Can we see him playing a part in next season? Does anyone know whether he managed to stay injury free when he was out on loan to Tenerife? I don't suppose the future looks that bright, since Tenerife were relegated and .com say he didn't exactly shine. Not one of Robson's best buys, it would seem.

I'd play Jenas, Acuna, McClen before him. On his way methinks.

I think he'll be a good squad player, perhaps he'll do well with the CL games (as late sub I mean) with his wider football experience.

Get rid - he's useless.

Good squad player? Apart from that goal at Chelsea can anyone else remember ANY contribution he's made apart from jogging around the centre circle looking lost? Is he any better than Jamie Mac?

Just cut our losses, take £2m for him and get shot.......

He might be more suited to Euro football than English, but I'd still snap anyone's hands off if they offered £2m.

I was hoping he'd adjust to the pace of the English game and he's had 30 games and hasn't really done that.

It's a shame it never worked out, but the simple fact is he isn't good enough.

To bad when he seems to be a top bloke in any other way.

....so was Frank Pingel! ;o{)

Didn't he take out Beckham by the touchline last season? A far bigger contribution than Pingel ever made...

Yes he did, I remember it well.

i think that's just part of being Argentinian, even Veron does it in training

This reminds me of my main claim to fame as a footballer - playing for UMIST under the floodlights at OT in a practice match (we played two 45 minute games on successive nights against them at their request) against the Argentinian Club, Estudiantes de la Plata, who were playing ManU in the World Club Championship in the 60's.

To reinforce macbeth's point, while they all seemed like canny blerks, one of them knackered my Geordie mate's knee by hacking him down from behind in the first game. Then came the high point of my career, when I 'cleaned out' JSV's father, and put him on the cinder track. Needless to say he wasn't fair pleased.

In the match proper against ManU, Veron Snr. - who was a fast and tricky right-winger, got into fisticuffs with George Best, and if I remember correctly, they both got sent off. I like to think I contributed in some small way to that sending off!!

Hehe cool clarky!

-- Anonymous, May 22, 2002

I believe that sending off is often cited as a reason George Best turned to drink

.....nah, that was my excuse, macbeth! ;o{)

The time to try him was in the early part of last season before Dyer came back. We were clueless with a midfield of Speed & Rob Lee yet still couldn't fit him in.
