Several sites today have Danish midfielder, Dennis Rommedahl, issuing a "come and get me" plea to Bobby Robson.

Rommedahl played under Robson at PSV Eindhoven, and has previously been linked with a switch to Newcastle in a deal worth around two million squid (no seriously, it actually says "squid" on FootyMad!).

"I would not need much persuading to play for Mr Robson again," admitted the player yesterday. The great thing about him is that he always has time for his players and treats them with respect and understanding. At PSV, the coach Eric Gerets can be a distant figure. I always felt the approach of Bobby Robson was better suited to getting the best out of you".

"He is a great coach and very astute tactician. But he is also a players' manager and I hope I get the chance to play for him again next season."

Lightening fast right-winger. Struggled badly at first with PSV: too many crosses into Row-Z, poor first touch, lacked confidence, defensively weak. Did establish himself as first-team regular, his pace is devastating, but needs good man-management, + carte-blanche too terrorise opponents RB. Might be worth a punt at 2 mil but couldn't see him replacing Solano, and he might struggle as a 'squad player'. Robson knows him well enough.

But where oh where do we find 2 million squid? And would we even be allowed to catch that many, assuming we could find enough boats? There are probably international laws against that sort of stuff.

It is nice to read about a player who actually wants to play for us, though. Might be worth dropping a few lines over the side.
