Offered USD 400 for this coated lens...condition is good.

How does this compared to the Latest elmar 50/2.8?

Is it worth it at this cost. I have heard this version is better than the earlier 50/3.5.

Yes the coated elmar shall be better than non-coated, but nothing to compare to latest Elmar.

Any how it has some very interesting caracteristics an you may find your reasons to like it, I got mine years ago and was in very good conditions for $150, have you try to find a better priced?

That prices sounds high unless it's a very nice example. Performance will be better on newer lenses, it's no contest between the 50/3.5 Elmar and a modern lens.
