Very Minty Leica IIIB with Summitar For Sale...IIIB, not IIIG...My Eror on previous posting

I am posting this item because there is a category "For Sale/Wanted to buy." Hope that's ok.

My friend who sold me my mint Leica IIIC/Summicron, sent me a very Minty Leica IIIB today with an excellent Summitar 50mm f/2, to see if I could find a new home for it. He is clearing out his collection of 40 years.

This camera is at least EX+++, 9+++ out of 10, beautiful chrome and real Leica leather in great condition, clean and bright finder and rangefinder, absolutely perfect shutter at all speeds, etc. Not one bright spot, leather tears, dings or dents or brassing, or anything like that...it is a camera you'd be proud to use and carry and show-off. The Lens is also just as excellent...firm with no-wobble when extended and locked, scratch free glass in and out (I couldn't find any "polishing marks" at all, nice clean shiny lens cap, with an aperture ring that does not stick in any way...amazing!

He wants $750 for this unit. In this condition I thinks that is a fine price. The Serial Number is 242557. According to Steven Gandy's site, this unit was made between 1937 and 1938 in a run of only 1000. This is camera 557. The number run was 24001 to 243000.

Not only is this a bit of a rare pre-war camera but it works absolutely as new! This is not just some historical albatross to sit on a shelf and look pretty...it really works!

I will put it on eBay Sunday evening, May 19th. I will have some photos of it Saturday evening. If interested, eMail me at fredrick@hotcity.com. Thanks, Todd
