Dyer off to Dubai

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Looks like he's joining up with England in Dubai and flying off to Korea with the England party. Daily soccer site quotes the FA website so it looks real enough. Still has to prove his fitness though.

I recall Clarky or someone else on here saying 'don't like the sound of this'. I certainly don't. No doubt Dyer will be pushing himself too hard. Very worrying. More worrying is that he flies out without signing the contract.

As an aside - saw Given on Tyne Tees sports news saying he was staying at SJP and that there were only a few bits to iron out in his contract. Good.

To be frank, I would say go for it to Dyer. Yes it's risky in terms of injuries, but it's a chance that very very few get and he should take it with open arms.

If he isn't fit enough I hope he doesn't go, but he has always managed to play pretty well after injuries, he seems naturally fit.

I see Dyer's agent is praising NUFC's medical staff and physios to the hilt. Lets hope both he and Dyer remember this when it comes to signing that contract.

As a Newcastle fan I would like to have him home. Not much good can come out of this but some really bad injuries could. We really need him in August for the CL qualifier.

Still I dont blame him a bit for going there. I would do exactly the same..

Sudden, I see what you mean but I think there can be SOME positives.

I would expect him to come back a much better player. All world class players have international experience.

Also If we end up selling him, Dyer going to the WC can only increase his value.

Dyer has given every indication he is staying, and looks like earning a King's ransom to do so (ie. Distin x 5!). He has said that he is more than happy with the Club's direction, so I really think the speculation about him should stop.

I like you Jim, you always see the positive side of everything. More ppl should be like you! =)

Todays papers are saying Dyer was visibly limping as he changed planes in Dubai Airport!

They are also saying there are continuing concerns about Beckham's foot injury. David Dunne, Alan Smith and Jermaine Defoe, currently with the U-21 squad, have been put on standby for the senior squad.

Just a thought - I'm not really a big fan of Steve McManaman, but if Becks breaks down surely McManaman would be a better replacement than Trevor Sinclair or David Dunne?

Mcmanaman on current for should be an automatic choice for the squad. SGE doesn't seem to rate him though.

I kind of agree about Macmanamanamanamanaman but I think there must be something more to it than just footballing ability - otherwise why has he been overlooked so much recently?

As for Little Kevin limping, poor sod must have been sent economy. Not much legroom and every chance of cramp ;-)

....that's all we bloody need - a £60k pw man with DVT!!

-- Anonymous, May 19, 2002

Nah - I think you only get them DVT thingies in Business class. The rest of us have to put up with the cabin videos or a "back of the seat jobby" on more modern planes like 777s ;-)

Don`t like the sounds of the back of the seat jobby - I suggest you change airlines......

I'm sure they do, Clarky. But, meanwhile back in economy class.........
