Good Brand-X Accessories

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

This is not a question, but the introuction of some good (in the writer's opinion) accessories for the Leica M line. Here are some of mine...

Fixed hood for the current 90mm Elmarit -- The Contax G 90mm lens hood is available in black and fits the Elmarit to perfection. With a fixed hood in place, no filter or lens cap is ever needed. Sweet.

Fixed hood for the current 50mm Summicron -- The current 50mm Elmar hood fit and works beautifully (again, no filter or lens cap is ever needed).

Eveready Cast for M -- Op/Tech Rangefinder neoprene case is excellent. Slips on and off in a second, can be stuffed in your pocket with ease. Protects and hides the M very well.

Lens pouches -- Op/Tech Photo/Electronic pouches are available in several sizes. They snuggly hold most M-lenses, can be belt worn if desired, or will protect the lenses when they are tossed into a bag. Good for space saving (I use a Domke F-5X with the facotyr apdding removed).

Anybody else have some good Brand-X accessory recommendations?

Anyone knows a good hood for the thin 90mm Tele-Elmarit? I have the original rubber hood but want something more effective. The $$$ 12575 is out of my range.

Heliopan makes a great 39mm TALL metal shade that works well with my 90mm Elmar. I think the Tele-Elmarit uses 39mm accessories so it should fit. Well made and compact.

i love the photo shop accessory bins of misc. parts. i like the screw-in Al lens caps for $1.

i found an e67 leica pol. for $20. as forest gump stated: you never know what your gonna get.

This may sound sacriligious but I've found those foam rubber cup coolers, the kind you put around aluminum cans, work great as lens protectors. They slide over the the lens not only protecting the front element, they protect the entire lens from that inadvertant bump. When you're ready to shoot slip it off and jam it in your pocket. Works like a charm for me. plus there's no fuzzies like from the felt or fabric cases.

Tony: any idea where to buy the Heliopan hood and how much does it cost? Even B&H doesn't carry one of those.
