Teehee! That`s funny Geordie, `cos you were feeling no pain yesterday! (;o)

Can I take this opportunity to thank everyone who who pulled out all the stops to get Yelli and I into this match. All your efforts were much appreciated.

Wonderful to meet a few more BBSers - such a shame it wasn`t a bigger gathering of the clan. Special mention to Dave for bringing our tickets. And to Min, Terry and Geordie who were delightful and amusing companions for the day. Briefly met Bob too, who spotted up in the queue into the ground. As I say, such a pity there couldn`t have been more of you.

Started the day in the Victory, where Pete joined us for a pre-match tipple, or three. Great fun and a happy atmosphere.

I won`t go on about the match too much. Someone will no doubt give you a more detailed account. Suffice it to say that, in all honesty, they didn`t seem interested in the first half. Our defence was made a fool of time and time again. You have to think that Bobby gave them a right royal rollicking at half time - no more than they deserved, `cos they put some effort in in the second half, and they could quite easily have won the match.

I know there was nothing to play for - nothing but pride anyway, and that should have been a good enough incentive. I was a bit disappointed with the attitude, they could have played better purely for the delight of their fans who had travelled so far.

The tackle on Dyer was disgraceful, and when some of us met up again in the Rat and Parrot for post match refreshments, we were joined by Al, a Southampton supporter who works with Pete - he was disgusted and disappointed and said the tackle had spoilt the game for him.

Other highlights of the day had to include the bus ride back to the Station, which was very entertaining, and I laughed so much that my face ached! Also meeting Alan Shearer`s matchday shirt in the pub!

Though we were somewhat `in our cups` by the end of the day, a proposed North v South beach football tournament during the summer has distinct possibilities. Long weekend maybe, sleeping bags, tents, campers in the garden? I will think about it more when my head is not throbbing quite so much! (:o)

Forgot to mention that the Toon Army gave LeTis a real rousing ovation when he did his lap of honour after the match.

Thanks for the report, Galaxy! Glad you all had such a great time in spite of the result. Also good to hear the team worked harder in the second half. I still think Bobby needs to deliver his ht rocket in his prematch talk. ;-)

I guess the match itself was an anticlimax after such a season. The Dyer thing is just to rotten for words.

too rotten!

I think I'm back in the land of the living again. I blame min for switching me over to Tanglefoot ;-)

I'm angry that we lost. We could and should have won and I now have to go to work tomorrow to be ridiculed by horrible Saints fans... and they are horrible.

Highlight for me was the bus from the pub to the ground... what an atmosphere!

Great to meet up with Gal(+Pete), Yelli, min, and that Mysterious chap.

At least we didn't waste a win.. save it for next season when it'll be important.

Remind me Gal. How many times have you seen the lads win? Is it as many as Min? I think I can see where the blame for yesterday's defeat lies! OK, I admit it - it was my fault. I should have been there and I'm dead sorry I wasn't. Next year, eh?

BTW - you gave the whole credibility game away when you said: .....to Min, Terry and Geordie who were delightful and amusing companions for the day. Bull$h!t!

And BTW again. Divvent believe Geordie about having the p!$$ taken at work. Take it from me - he spends all day "working at home" drinking ice cold Stella. Unlike me............

ha! tomorrow I'm down the Dolphin to take the flak. Not showing up will just add to the later abuse.

Working from home with Stella eh? ... ok it's a fair cop... sometimes

That's OK Geordie. My diary often has an appointment with "Mr Brown". I felt "John Smith" was just a tad(caster) too obvious. Mind, I'm trying to build a strong relationship with "Mordues", especially as now they might need tax consultancy.

A lot of froth about nothing. This matter is coming to a head I can see. Nothing Peculier in that then. Not bitter are we?

It`s becoming increasingly obvious to me Screacher, that the boys do better when I have seen them in the flesh (ooh err missus) but NOT attended the match. It`s a sacrifice I know, but one I am prepared to make! (;o)

As for my `delightful` companions.....they were! Or are you suggesting that I was looking at them through wine-tinted spectacles! (:o)

Toon fans celebrating Le Tis's retirement, now there's a thing...

-- Anonymous, May 12, 2002

Oh, and you don`t have to leave it `till next year to visit. What are you like at beach football? (:o)

-- Anonymous, May 12, 2002

Look Gal, you don't have to be so coy. If you want to see me wearing a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, you've only got to ask..............mind, you won't like what you see. As for beach footy - hmmmmmm, 30 years ago I'd have jumped at the oipportunity. But not so much now :-(
