Patches of blue sky breaking through the light cloud... better than forecast down here on the ground in Hampshire.

Pissing down in Barcelona, as it has been for weeks.

Howay Lads! Let's finish in style...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sweltering in Singapore (just for a change), I can't believe we're actually NOT on the telly :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

...but we do have Sunderland v. Derby & L'pool v. Ipswich both on live.

I'm on record as saying I don't want the Mackems to go down (not the Mancs. to finish 2nd.), so come on Liverpool (thus killing 2 birds with one stone)!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Nah, come on Liverpool! Even if they don't go down, I want my best mate back home shitting himself till the last minute. (Yeah, some friend I am...).I also genuinely believe that Ipswich play more attractive football and I'd rather they stayed up. I will feel for them if they don't make it, which is likely.

Sunderland, on the other hand...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

TYPO! Come on IPSWICH. Hangover. Sorry.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hello from sunny Powburn. White fluffy bits in a lovely blue sky. Haven't ventured ootside yet so divven knaa if its warm or caad. Bit of wind today (weatherwise, that is) but not to much. Due for a meal with Clarky and Petula tonight. Howay the lads! Let's finish off in style - with a Shearer hattrick to seal the GB.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hello from sunny Sweden! When is kick off? 3 pm your time?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Aye. 3pm England, 4pm here.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Well North Shields is mostly cloudy, breezy and bloody cauld! Off to Edwin's Kingdom for the weekend shortly, so hopefully the weather will improve a bit.

Dinner meet with Wor Screacher the neet oot in t' wilds of Northumbria, for an end of season celebration. Hope we end it in style, and that Wor Al winds the Golden boot - that would be sweet.

Talk to yers later.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Evening from sticky Tokyo. We have Arsenal, Man U and Sunderland on live with the Liverpool game on tomorrow.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Good morning from sunny Baltimore! No Toon or Saints webcasts yet so listening to 5 Live until they cut the internet stream.

Bud, I'm a tad jealous of your telly choices. The US is getting Moanu. Which is why I'm here instead of down at the pub. I was hoping to watch the Mackems get relegated, but oh well. Much better to listen to our match and join in the last match day thread of the season instead. :-)

Come on Derby! Come on Ipswich!! Come on Big Al hat trick!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Nice day in Whitley Bay, just been to the town for a dinner suit but I think I'll listen to the match outside as it's a bit dull indoors.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh no! Claudio Reyna is starting for he Mackems. I thought he was suspended for the rest of the season. Hope he doesn't get injured! And I guess this means he won't be playing in tomorrow's US friendly at RFK :-(

So far haven't heard much news of our line up. Only that Distin is starting.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Anyone else getting the webcast yet? I show it playing, but there's no sound. Same with Soton's, which uses Real Player. Figures, after going smoothly for a couple of month's, .cock would screw up the Metro link on the last day. :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Metro are broadcasting Sunderland on their usual 97 wavelength. Had to retune to 103. Don't know if .cock will be able to manage that!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sunny thus far in Newcastle, Byker, Longbenton, Gateshead, Dunstun, the Metrocentre, Team Valley and Bensham, and all the places mentioned above. However, Byker is by far the sunniest and most fair.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Steamy here tonight. Last one of the season eh bit sad. Nice to have a good result at S'ton for a change, we were originally going to be on cable but been changed, supposed lack any real drama as regards championship/relegation. Thought the Pool Blackburn game during the week was a thriller. I must admit ROvers have some very attractive players, lovely build-ups from time-to-time. The second goal(I think) they got which involved a very intricate 4-men movement inside the penalty area was surely one of the goals of the season. There are definitely some good teams around which makes the PL healthier all round.

Any news of Emmerton?? Dyer, Bernard, Distin and Given signing new contracts??

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Still no line up given, but 5 Live saying Distin is the only change, so I suppose same as last match. No game for Harper :-(

LeTissier on the bench for Soton. Pahars starting. Hope our defenders are awake today. According to 5 Live if we win today it will be our best away record since 1909.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Line-up -

Given
Bernard Dabs Distin Hughes
Robert Dyer Speed Solano
Shearer Lua7

Subs - Harper, Cort, Kerr, O'Brien, Jenas

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I feel a bit sad. End of the season. Rainy day.

Only a Shearer golden boot and/or a Sunderland relegation will cheer me up. Alan has a good chance BTW as RVN, Henry and Hasselbank not playing.

Howay the Lads!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Finally, the webcast is on. Usual cr@p sound, but better than nothing! Howay lads, let's have a win today!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Toon Army in fine voice!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Loudest Toon Army Singing Over A Webcast This Season Award contenders?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dyer scores but offside.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Absolutely, you'd almost think it was a home game for us....except the SJP crowd is never that loud. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Crap Commentator:

"Bit a daisy cutter - got no height to it whatsover."

A daisy cutter's a weapon of mass-destruction; not something that cuts daisies. Tosser.

Hello, btw.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Mackems just hit the post, Quinn missed the reboond.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Perhaps he feels he's got to use up all his cliches in the next 90min. It'll be months before he gets to use them again. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Come on Derby!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Another of the brolly boys joins in, this is the worst weather i can remember anywhere, ever!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Poor Stevie Harper - he deserved a game I think. I bet he is gutted.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Go Derby! Go Derby! Bobby Lee, Warren Barton, stand up if you love the Toon...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

hi everyone, come on DERBY!

I'm NOT one of those who wants them in the PL...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Harper's probably making a mental list of clubs he could move to over the summer. :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Nice weather here in the Toon.

Just noticed that a bloke across the block's got two sheds.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I'm not much bothered whether the Mackems stay up, I just want Ipswich to stay up. So let me also add....COME ON IPSWICH!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hello Swift. Can I direct your attention to the 'videos sent' thread then cough quietly and say "Monday?" ?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Liverpool one up :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Scouse have scored.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Liverpool 1 up against Ipswich

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Shit, Liverpool scored. Howay Ipswich!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

CR@P! Liverpool have scored. COME ONNNNNN, IPSWICH!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

sunderland that is...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Persoanlly, I want Sunderland in the Premier, I want them to struggle every season, to have to win the last game of every season, to be depressed every season and NOT look forward to the start of the season. They are far too happy when they get promotion for my likeing.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Which one of the Toon players is getting married this summer then? Just noticed it mentioned in icnewcastle.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Munchkin has scored!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Balls. 0:1

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Phillips just scored a scrappy goal for the mackems

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

knackers

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Feckin hell - Soton 1 up

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Who says they'd get promoted? I understand your reasoning though. I will have to content myself with that if they stay up, as seems likely.

I reckon Reid will stay if they stay up, so that'll stop any progress.

SHIT! S'ton just scored. Ah well, the usual comeback it'll have to be...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!! How have they scored? Howay lads - this is a jinx to bury today!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Spheroids

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

today isn't going as planned

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

COME ON THE TOON

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Coz Lawrenson predicted we'd win - that's why it happened.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Don't worry, we always come back when the opposition score first! ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

which video? The Rams video, or the ... sheep one? :-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Get a grip! We need to bury this lot before the new stadium acquires bogy properties as well...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

NEE Bother !!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

come on comeback kids

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I've told you before, Swift, I am not interested in your speciality selections. You're like the butcher in League of Gentlemen...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I didn't mean they'd get promoted straight away, but they would do at some point. This way they will be bitter for ever - a good season would mean safety at the end of April.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dyer robbed in possession for the nth time! What's he playing at?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

he's rooming with Gerrard at the world cup, so he might as well get used to it...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Penalty to Soton

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Yooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooo

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Beattie dived. 0-2

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Jeeezus! My computer crashes and I come back to find us 2 down. WTF?????!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

A penalty! Dear oh dear oh dear.........NUFC obviously off on their holidays in spirit already. I HATE getting beat and especially by these lot of no-hopers.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

sh!t - penalty to Soton. The players are thinking about their holidays

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh shit. So much for the party :(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I suppose Ipswich will be relegated today too. :-((

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

WHATS going on?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Thank GOD we've got 4th place locked up and weren't depending on a result today.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Soton all fucking over us. That's what.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Why is anyone surprised, an average team, we should be hammering them not the other way around.

Same as the rest of the season! What a bunch of arseholes we support. I personally do not care if any of them stay as long as we can get some players who want to play every game.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Real Madrid et. al must be shitting themselves at the thought of meeting us in the CL...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

the sun are saying we are going to buy bramble

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Excuse my French.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bloody commentator..

'Can he cross?' I don't feckin know, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE TELLING ME...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Actually, they should...we tend to raise ourselves for top oppo. It's the Irish non-league sides who'll be hoping they draw us. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

'they' = Real Madrid.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

NOW, our brilliant lads will have to show - for the NTH time this exciting and proud season - what they are made of.

Mind you, Win, Lose or Draw, it won't take away an microcosm of my pride and joy in Sir Bobby and the lads this season :-))

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Very true Val. Hope we can do it. I just need some cheering up. I never knew till this year that Spain had a rainy season. It's like being in bloody Vietnam or something.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hey Val! Long time, no see. How're things?

Take your point about being proud of the lads, but my nerves would be far less frazzled if they wouldn't keeping putting us in the position of having to prove we can come back. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

As long as Shearer wins the golden boot I dont care what the result are. Also I think Harper should have started today. Give me a reason why not?

COME ON TOOOOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Get Dyer off and Jenas on. He's having a mare.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Everton 2-1 Arse!! I think an Everton win puts them in the Intertoto. Come on Everton!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Arse losing! Hooray. Won't last of course...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Ar$e losing 2-1 to Everton

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

It does me val and SteveT, when we lose to teams like this it is far worse than being beaten by Arse, Manure and L'pool

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

This t*$$er of a commentator can't even get the score right!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry has equalised, Scouse 2-0 up.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bassa Henry scored. Arse level. Henry on 23 goals. Booo!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Commentator:Newcastle trail by one goal to nil. Your thoughts Mick
Mick Martin: They trail by two goals to nil

The man is an idiot

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Liverpool up 2-0

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bugger.. Mackems winning 2-0. I thought they'd forgotten what the nets are for..

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I think I'm going to start cheering for the Mackems, Liverpool, Arse and Soton. Everyone I've rooted for today seems to be losing.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

come on boys

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Scouse 2 up. Ipswich down

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Or is it Liverpool up 2-0?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Steve, mackems only 1 up unless my tape is delayed

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I just hate teams in Red and White stripes beating us...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Yeah, my fault. I was half-listening to the webcast, half to something else.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

to cheer you up... "Robson and Shepherd met earlier this week to discuss an action plan designed to make the most of the club's improved position and the list of summer targets has been revised.

"We'll meet again in the next few days to review what we talked about but it was a positive discussion," added the Magpies' manager." dead people

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

3 goals for golden boot Al...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

How about we work a deal with Wee Gordon at ht...we let Soton score 1 more goal if they let Al score a hat trick. Game ends in a draw, Al gets his golden boot.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

The NUFC v Mackems games are the highlights of the season, so why wish relegation on them? I would like us to be Champions and FA Cup winners and them runners-up every year. Anyway, they're staying up this year, for sure now.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hopefully they were saying sign Keown (on a free), Stam, Bridge, Emerton and Jardel.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

As far as I'm concerned then - the season ended against Charlton 2 weeks ago. The team are terrible today. Al won't get the golden boot now.

Bobby should make changes NOW. All I keep hearing is 'caught in possession'. Pathetic. Where's the committment? Where's the pride in the shirt?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sorry to be like a broken record but Swift - while I also was pleased to see that article, I would like to see current players signed up on new contracts BEFORE they leave for World Cup. Dyer in particular was going to sign a new contract but it's all gone quiet.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

nobby v lll, there's gonna be a fight

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

if dyer has a good wc and Madrid offer him 4 times what we'll give him, do you see him staying, L?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bartinho booked, much to the pleasure of the Mackems.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I wonder....if players are stalling on signing a new contract prior to the WC thinking their value will go up during the tournament so they can ask for more or have top clubs knocking their doors down...

Can we offer them a contract now and say if they want to wait until after the WC to sign, and go on to have a cr@p WC, can we lower the value of the contract accordingly? Would that make some of them more willing to sign now for the sure thing?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

sorry to be a wet blanket, but there is NO way his allegiance to NUFC is as strong as ours, especially when $$money$$ and **fame** enter the equation. I think this summer will be a bit bitter sweet.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

God, Swifty, you're worse than me today. Emergency prozac parcel to Barcelona, somebody...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Aaah! Back to the good 'ol team we know and luv so well! cAN'T WIN AT sOTON FOR LUV NOR MONEY.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

If Dyer has a good world cup, I'd sell him. He would probably be worth 2x what he's worth now and we could probably get two players for him

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bergkamp got Arse back 2-2. I hate Arsenal.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Swift, bet you thought Bellamy was a cr@p signing too... ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I am sick of this mis reporting, who the F*ck scored for Arsenal, Bergkamp or Henry?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry scored the second after Bergkamp had pulled it back

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bergkamp and Henry

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

ciara, where is he now? just when we need him... :-o

honestly, if Bellamy is still doing the biz for us in 5 years, it was a great signing. If not, what kind of a signing will he have been? btw, i hope he's the best signing ever.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Ahh... HT report now says Bergkamp set up for Henry.

Al deffo needs a good second half for that Bota de Oro.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bellers? Fecked off for some late season skiing in Colorado. Allegedly.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

what happens if they end up equal?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Just noticed that a bloke across the block's got two sheds. LOL! Anyone remmeber Arthur "Twosheds" Jackson of Monty Python fame?
A daisy cutter's a weapon of mass-destruction; not something that cuts daisies Naaaah. A daisy cutter is something that cuts daisies - like a ball that keeps low in cricket - the term has existed since before the invention of weapons of mass destruction, possibly even since before our last win at Southampton.

Hmmmm. Southampton. Weapons of mass destruction. Are you people thinking what I'm thinking? Shame on you ...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

They fight for it. Al will win.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry & Bergkamp!

Just watched the replay of the Munchkin's goal and who gifted it to him, none other than many on here's favourite ex-Mag, one Warren Barton, obviously ending the season as he started...giving goals away :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Arthur Twosheds! I immediately thought of Python, but couldn't remember the first name!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I once spent the night in Southampton.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Awful place.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

This web cast is rubbish - in an out.

Swift - you're really a bundle of joy today aren't you!?

KD's contract was meant to be well advanced - I personally think he'll stay. However if he doesn't - he's not indispensible to us is he? I just think the club should have tied everything up with Given and KD asap. No doubt the agents are stalling things as well.

BTW - STILL no one knows which player is tying the knot this year. Come on - someone should know!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bellamy is Welsh. He bound to be good at singing.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I believe the locals are still clearing up the mess SteveT. ...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

another chance goes west...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Is that the same as the mysterious (as opposed to Mysterious) person gus was referring to on the other thread? Do we have a player lurking on the bbs? ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Never mind which player, we still do not know which bbser is to be congratulated!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Actually, who among the first team are still single? The only 2 I can think of are Harper and Dyer. Can't see Dyer ever marrying, so mayber Harper?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

gus, he's not slightly , portly, is he?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

AAAAARG! Commentator make me think we've scored for the second time today.

Someone, please. Find this man. Staple his mouth shut.

!!!!!!!!!!! He just did it again!

PUT THE BASSA OFFSIDE FLAG DOWN WHEN SHEARER IS ABOUT TO SCORE! SHEESH!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

GOAL!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

liverpool 3 up

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Lynda I think the club does aim to sort out all contracts ASAP. The trouble is the P is never A S as we would like it to be, as you say, due to agents and protracted negotiations. Look how long it has taken Manure to finally get Beckham's signature.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

seems like we are really attacking them

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

No, not Screacher, swift!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Well, I suppose the good thing about Liverpool winning is Manure goes into the qualifying round of the CL. Still would rather have Ipswich stay up. :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

miaow,

bang goes that theory then :-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dabizas should not be allowed to back pass

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hi again, y'all ! ...still nee bother.

Am usually a lurker on match threads as it takes me AGES to type under stress - you lot are FANTASTIC. It's really enjoyable when, along with everybody else, YOU CAN'T BE THERE.

steph, did you forsee that?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I've never considered myself a matchday thread sort of person - but wouldn't chat be better for this - we could always cut and paste the chat into the bbs for posterity. Just an idea - don't mind me - carry on.

(mutter mutter - he NEVER comes on the matchday thread and now says we're doing it all wrong grrr ....)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh fuck. Dyer stretchered off. S'ton player red carded...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

FFS web cast down here - what's happening with Dyer?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

some saoton player who I can't spell has been sent off for a bad foul on dyer. Dyer could be out of the world cup - gutted

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I can't use chat while listening to the webcast. Crashes my computer. :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

backchat when rik was alive, i think you mean

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Congrats, Lynda!! Are you marrying a player by any chance? ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

This is difficult to follow but am I right in thinking that Shearer has just scored 6 in the past 3 minutes?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

doesn't look like Dyers going to Madrid then, Lynda :-) :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

LOL, Swift. Dark humour, but yes at least Dyer will have time to sign his name to that contract now. Hope he's ok!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

what a total twat el khalej is

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bindippers 4-0 up against Ipswich. Toon army wanting to lynch s'ton axe-merchant apparently.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Thanks Ciara. Unfortunately no I am not marrying a player - although there's still time if one of them nips in with a better offer!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Mercenary, Lynda. ;-))

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

oops, didn't mean to shout!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I'll get me boots ready Lynda ....

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

This match is getting out of hand. Stupid Southampton fans wanting Dabs sent off. I hope they're proud of their idiot player crocking a world cup prospect. Morons.

Howay lads - lets do these for Dyer!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dabs booked, things are getting a bit heated out there!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I'm sorry Dyer got clattered, but if that what it takes to get them to play...........

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Let's get Shearer his golden boot!! Come onnnnn!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

And in here too, Steph (if your shouting is anything to go by)...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Bernard wins free kick, Solano takes, comes to nowt.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

KILL this damned commentator

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?????

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

DEATH TO THE COMMENTATOR.

Please, Mick Martin, for the sake of toon fans everywhere, turn around and TWAT the bloke...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

get the video warmed up gus, i feel a comeback coming on...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

1-1 Derby, a bit late now like!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

oo er

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

All I got was "Bernard....*somethingsomethingsomething*" and heard crowd noise. AAARRGHH!!! Don't bother describing the action, you tit!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Radio NCL reckon Dyer had his right ankle in a splint when he was stretchered off. Looks very bad.

This is not hindsight - imho Dyer should not have played today, and neither should Given. I know we pay their wages, but to take a risk with these lads chances of appearing in a WC in an utterly meaningless end of season game is just plain crass. I feel totally gutted for the lad.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

so Le Tissier ISN'T coming on then?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Ciara nothing happened, this t*$$er just starts screaming whenever we get a ball forward!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I borrowed the best of James from my local library. Talk about 18 boring tracks all sounding the same! Pants. Still, reminded me of many an adventure in Club Diva. Hmmmm, what ever happened to that place?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

My sentiments too Mr. Clark, I'm surprised at YBR to be honest, ex. England manager, etc.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

"the ball had a bit too many legs" what the hell is this idiot talking about?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

He's making Jonathan Pierce almost bearable! Pierce screams alot, but at least he describes the bliddy action while he's doing it.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry scored for Arsrenal - 24 goals. Come on Al

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I am soooooooo gutted for Dyer, he is so unlucky! Web cast down now. Update me please!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Could Dyer sue El Khalej, has El Khalej been paid off by Argentina (if they have any money...)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry scores again, shit

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Henry scored again. Arse apparently winning by 3 goals. Funny, I thought that would make it 3-2.

Idiot.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

speed hacked down in penalty area, nothing given

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Agree, Clarky. None of the WC players should be playing, IMO, unless their teams are in need of a result. Basically, only the Mackems and Ipswich should be playing their strongest squads today.

And I'm still hoping Reyna comes through unscathed!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I thought it was Mick Martin you were all moaning about. I turned them off, me. Can't stand either of those two clowns. Ugghhh!!! Tacky commentary.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Ya, I agree Clarky.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Mick Martin deserves a medal

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Stupid Henry! Come on AL!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Face it folks, we're getting nowt today. No boot for Al, null points for the team, no Dyer for the World Cup.

And it's still f**king raining.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Whitley Bay still 0-0 if you're interested - Bay missed a penalty earlier.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Arsenal have rested Seaman, Campbell, Ljungberg and Vierra today

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dyer is out of the WC according to BBC

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

...how very sensible!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh, and the mackems staying up.

This commentator, man...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

O Bernard sounds like he's having a stormer

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sorry swift, I can only video games that are actually televised, so unless you want the Arse or the Scouser game let me know now and I will tape the replay tomorrow.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

a pisser of a day

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I had hoped there would be no jinx at their new stadium but it could hardly be worse.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Gutted for Dyer. :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

My MOTM is the first person who stuff a sweaty, smelly sock into this commentator's gob...on the air! ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

no thanks! save them for if anyone ever feels suicidal (which is always likely)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Shoot this to$$er 'here come Sunderland'!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

The result of the match doesn't seem that important now...............

This commentator just called Southampton 'Sunderland'. Idiot.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

DONTSAYTHAT,LYNDA...itcannotbeitcannotbeitcannotbe

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I hope Bobby throttles El Khalej

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Only thing I care about now is that Al gets another goal.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

It's complicated, two teams with red and white stripes in the same season. Poor chap.

Go on Mick! Chin him!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Nice gesture by arsenal wenger, bringing on Stuart Taylor (the third choice keeper) for the last 10 mins

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

please bear in mind i am a lot slower posting, Lynda;-))

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

come on shearer

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Man U in qualifiers, can we draw them?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

carsten Jancker is out of the world cup too, if anyone is interested

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Dabs blazes good chance wide - bugger!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

If it's true what you / they are saying about YKD (I suspect that it is!), then I'm totally gutted for the lad. Apparently he was having a 'mare of a game, Jenas needs PL matches, what was YBR thinking?!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

crap way to end the season

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sounds like Ipswich have completely given up. 5-0 to Liverpool :-(

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

my connection is about to cut out, if we equalise can you call me stevie?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

If the management of NUFC want us to get past the qualifyers in the CL they will need to spend twice as much as they think they need to spend.

Everyone else can score against crap but us, unless we draw an amateur team we may as well send the U19s

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Aye. Make sure your phone is on though!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Jenas needs Premier League games as do Kerr and McClen. I am gutted for Dyer, really am. Hope that it's not too serious and at the very worst he will be back for the start of the season.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I don't effing believe it! :-((

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

ShiT

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

bollocks!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

swift, your stevie!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I hate to end such a great the season criticising BR but I'm afraid in playing Given and Dyer today he clearly wasn't thinking. I'm really upset by this - and S'ton's 3rd just pisses me off even more!

End of season - and sod it all!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Game over and good night. 3-1 soton

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

"I am going to play my strongest side. There's no point in playing squad players and getting beat 3-1" - YBR 3 days ago.

Well done mate. Dyer crocked as well, Harper more likely to leave, I'd say. One substitution.

Sometimes I do wonder...

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Howay you lot, Given is the best keeper in the league

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

All the players hoying shirts into the crowd!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

They're probably all putting in transfer requests according to some people's thinking on the subject!

Regardless of today, I'm well chuffed with the team this year. Nice to hear the Toon Army in fine voice despite the result.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Know what you mean, Clarky. It seems a bit churlish, but I feel the same. Honestly, what incentive did Given and Dyer have to be at their best today? A part of their minds had to be looking towards the WC. Harper would have played out of his skin, and Jenas needs experience. Any of the squad players would likely have been 100% focused on proving themselves today.

Still it has been a great season over all, so I'm sure I'll be in a better mood once today's frustration wears off and I reflect more on the positives. Of which there were many!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

The Radio NCL reporters have just indicated that Dyer's injury may not be as serious as it looked. I hope this isn't premature optimism, but they say they've been told by someone at the Club that they are hoping his ankle has just been severely jarred.

Gawd I desperately hope so for the lad - fingers crossed for him.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I hope someone has taped the comments from this match, "its over now and this match didnt count for anything." they should then play it back infront of the commentator in a hall with all of the supporters who went and those of us sitting up til all hours of the morning to listen or watch a performance like the first half and put up with the result.

It is no good going on about being in the CL if it only lasts 2 games. (It is H and A isn't it)?

This crap about how well we have done, you are only as good as your worst game, not your best. We put in way too many bad performances.

Teams that finished above us will spend twice as much as we will spend in the summer. We make this mistake time and time again. Remember finishing in the top 5 then being relegated the following season?

Liverpool and Manure will probably bring in 5 first team players to their squad. We will be lucky to bring in 5 players, nevermind holding onto 4 already with us. (Dyer, Given, Distin and Bernard)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Can we start a campaign over the summer to get rid of this idiot?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh pooh, gus ! Today (Dyer possible injury excepted) is just to stop us getting too carried away....but I'm not going the angry way..btw the sun is shining in Northumberland.

I've had too many over the twenty eight years since I was hooked !

And the sun is shining in Northumberland :-))) coouldn't resist that.

Ciara, how goes it ? I'll be in touch xx

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

There already is one, Steph:

Here

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I probably shouldn't comment too much right now as I'm really brassed off about today. Somehow I just knew we'd be cr@p today, and it seems we were.

Another dreadful 1st performance, and yet another HT bollicking from BR - that must be 5 or 6 on the trot now, and maybe 20 during the season - indicates to me that something important is missing in this team.

If I were BR that is what would be occupying my thoughts during the close season, because he can bring in a dozen players, but unless he addresses the "cr@p 1st half" conundrum we won't make progress.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Right Steph, no more videos for you!!!

val, it really really gets my goat when we give inept performances. I do not mind losing, just the way it happens.

As for the club management 100 good things do not make up for the bad things. I went to my first game when I was 5 I cannot remember who it was against although I remember lots about the day.

That was 40 years ago, it still does not make me feel better when we lose like this to team slike this! I do not mean to offend anyone, except Steph who has just launched a campaign to get rid of me over summer! :o)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Also a link to pictures of Justin Crapwood,

Looks like a 12-year-old version of the bloke from Mystery Science Theater 3000 (if anyone is aware of said comedy masterpiece).

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Howay everyone - especially you Gus! It was a bad game, you can't really start being critical of Bobby and the team now though! Yeah mistakes have been made but we finished 4th!!!!!! That is far and away above what any of us could have hoped for.

Also - who is to say what players will be in or out this summer - KEEP THE FAITH.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

After this performance all I am looking forward to is humiliation in Europe next season

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Don't see any sign of a petition there? So I guess we should just email complaints to Metro?

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Sorry gus, I meant the OTHER idiot! ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Could it just be a distance thing? The players are just plain knackered after the journey to Southampton.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Oh, THATS alright then, as long as you meant the other idiot!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Get a grip Gus! Put away your belt and shoelaces, hide the paracetemol! We have had a good season. We Will strengthen the team, we also have 2/3 of a decent team already. LOOK FORWARD to Europe, humiliation is a bit strong.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Off to get my beauty sleep, I'm taking the gusette to the "Oz Cup Final" tomorrow. Perth Glory v Sydney Olympic. If that does not go well I will be looking for a tall building!!

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Apparently Dyer hurt his knee and is having a scan on it. Fingers crossed it's OK.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

I know a couple on St. George's Terrace, gus marra!?

I'll shout for the "Glory", alreet?

I hope you have a g'day - you miserable owld git ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Hell's teeth, gus. No offence taken I promise. I've had plenty of days when I've felt exactly the same way. Time will heal an aal that.

But not this season's end for me personally. I can't forget how smashing it was at times and I'm sure it will be again next season.

And we'll all be there next season and the one after that anyway :-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

They're not really tall like ciara is used to Bud! I found out that there are webcasts of the Glory today!

Maybe if all the bbsers listened tomorrow, 1300 our time, thats 0600 UK time they may understand a bit of what we have to put up with.

Do not know the web addy, but the radio station is 6PR, 880.

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Well if you fling yourself off a 2 story building(or even 1 story..though it's a bit more of a challenge) the proper way, it can be just as effective. So I've heard. Have you considered a visit to Sydney? They've got some proper skyscrapers as well as a model of the Tyne Bridge. ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 11, 2002

Have you met gus, Ciara - he'd boonce straight back like!

As for the Sydney Harbour Bridge, his Customs mates would 'save' him so that they could still have a hope of collecting all his gambling debts!

;7)
