I read about that printer, and was wondering when it would be out. I am hoping to set up a more capable digital darkroom sometime before the end of the year, and if that one lives up to its expectations, I may get one.

The most interesting thing to me is the 'light black' (also known as gray) ink - not to be confused with the 'matte black' ink also available.

This should eliminate some of the faint color shifts (magenta-green) in B&W photos that current 4/6-color printing leaves behind, since grayscale images will essentially be a gray/black duotone.

Wonder what that'll do to the quad-tone third-party ink sellers?

Yes it looks interesting - the archival qualities of the 2000 series with the gamut of the 890/1290s. Certainly too the dual black ink must make black and white better. Still one has to doubt that they can match the quadtone or piezography inks currently available, because there are only two- but I guess tests will rapidly tell us.
