Don't cry for me...Ananova:

ITV chiefs have signed Paul Gascoigne as a World Cup pundit for their presenting squad.

The Burnley star will join former England managers Terry Venables and Bobby Robson in ITV1's coverage.

Gazza has signed a five-figure deal to be on the team for every England game, starting with the clash with Sweden on June 2.

He said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the ITV team. Working alongside Terry Venables and Bobby Robson will be fantastic - I have great respect for them and the rest of the ITV team."

ITV controller of sport Brian Barwick said: "Paul Gascoigne has written his own chapter in English football history - he was an England hero in his time."

ITV is expected to announced further signings for its coverage in the next few days.

Des Lynam and Gabby Logan will be the main presenters during the tournament.

Another ex-England boss, Graham Taylor, will also be on the team, as will Andy Townsend, Ally McCoist, Robbie Earle and John Barnes.

Oh the pearls of wisdom we can expect from Duston's finest!

Ahem...doesn't the job of pundit suggest some facility in the English language? perhaps not.

With England's first game v Sweden kicking off at 7.30am, wor Gazza will be able to gan to the studio straight from a night oot...kebab still warm...and a spare for Bobby in case he's missed breakfast.

That's unless ITV are actually taking him to Japan / Korea? Can you imagine the chat with the locals?
