Literary Amemrica was very young then. No big awards or poet laureates. His story "Ms Found in a Bottle" won a magazine award as did "The Gold Bug" later on. For details try a biography or www.eapoe.org. In one bit of nonsense that first award saw Poe placing second(Collisseum) to the publisher in the poetry category- which provoked a fist fight.

I am trying the find the awards that he won too and I can't seem to. This is for an outline project. All that I can find is that he was honored with the title master of macabre and others like best horror/terror writer. I know he won an award locally for one of his poems, but that was when he was a teenager. Sorry that I can't help you more. I'll try.

First of all, when you type Edgar "Allan Poe awards" it shows awards that modern people have won for recreating his work or whatever the only one I know of is the 50 dollars and a magazine award.
