I need recommendations on gas powered weed eater...

We are hoping to buy one SOON, but wanted to hear what you all had to say about ones you've liked, ones you've had trouble with or any other tips BEFORE we buy!

THANKS! ;)

Hi Heather..I do believe I would rather pull the weeds by hand or buy another goat! LOL!! I truly hope you find one that is easy starting. We have had two of them..and I get blisters from trying to pull it to start it. For the life of me..I cannot start the weed eater...I can run it AFTER someone else starts it though!

Good luck to ya..and sorry I could not be of more help!

I will have to go look at mine to see the brand, it is a quick start and you can pull it with 2 fingers... I hate trying to pull and pull to get it started!!!

I have a Sears Craftsman string trimmer that starts real easy, but the clutch in it broke after just 4 months of use, probably in part because I was using it heavier than what it was intended for.

I have a Green Machine model that you can put blades on for heavy brush. It's taken alot of use and abuse with no problems at all.

It depends alot on what you plan to do with it. Just light trimming and edging or heavy brush, thick weeds?

We run a lawn care on the side (until Lance made the fire department, we ran a lawn care NOT on the side!), and we have always used Stihl trimmers. The one we have is a heavier-duty model, but you can put different blades on it for heavy weeds or even a blade that looks like a circular saw blade and cut down trees up to 2 or 3" in diameter. We've always had really good luck with them, so that's my .02 worth!

I think the most important part is to maintain them well. They last so much longer if you keep them clean and in good shape!
