this thread is for those who are trying to lose weightor get healthier. Please feel free to post your progress here and any tips or hints you may have...

I have lost 16 pounds and came to a dead halt... I guess I am at a plateau...so depressing, but I saw on the news, (CBS is doing a series on the morning show) that when you reach plateau, you need to exercise more. This is where I really need to make improvements, so I guess that is what I will work on. We are eating very healthy, and feling pretty good othewise.

I think I am doing well this week. I haven't stepped on a scale lately but my clothes are starting to fit a lot better. I actually got into an outfit a size smaller, will wanders never cease?

17 pounds so far for me. My jeans are SO baggy, not that I'm complaining. My friends are commenting on my baggy clothes and Dh is wanting to give me money for new clothes, but I refuse to buy anything till I have lost some more weight. That's the tightwad in me, I guess. I'll wait till I'm either where I want to be weight-wise, or can't keep my jeans up anymore. :D

47 pounds and counting. I have gone down 4 sizes and my friends are helping me take up everything until I get down to where I want then I will buy new!!! I walk every evening with 2 other ladies. One husband cleaned out his garage for us and the other owns a store and donated 6 pieces of exercises equipment and carpet for the floor. We are excited and will either walk or do the machines every evening. We meet after dinner and baths and sometimes bring all our kids(7 in all) and put them down for bed together. The kids love it and we get alot accomplished. Good luck everyone and God Bless!

I went over to my mom's to weight, thinking that I must have gained weight because I was naughty this month. I get there and find out that I lost 15 pounds! I'm so confused!

I have not posted on these threads before because of my pregnancy, but I have noticed something happening lately. During the first half of my pregnancy I gained 25 lbs. This really discouraged me, since I can't seem to get the weight off between babies. I can't really "diet" right now, but I have done two things that have helped. First, I stopped using sugar. The whole family has switched to honey; Tom has even started using it in his coffee! Second, now that I am feeling better and spring has come, I have been able to get out and do stuff outside more. The exercise has really helped.

I still am not trying to lose weight through diet, just trying to exercise more.

Melissa, Focus on the Family had a show a couple of years ago that said you should add weight training to your routine. They said this could be as simple as carrying those little hand weights (1-2 lbs each hand) while you walk. They said that the people who combined all three (diet, exercise, and weights) lost more and kept it off longer than those who only did diet and exercise.

My mom is here for a visit. Her doctor threatened to put her on high blood pressure medication unless she got her weight down. She has put herself on a strict diet and has lost 18 lbs in 6-8 weeks. She does not do sugar at all, and has cut way down on her starches.

I have lost a "grand total" of 15# so far. Doesn't seem like much but as someone said, I can tell it in my clothes! Hubby is telling me how baggy my jeans are getting but I too refuse to get any new ones for a while. May have to go visit Goodwill and see if I can find a pair or two! I'm losing it very slowly probably because of my inability to do much exercise because of my back problems (I have rods the full length of my back and have lots of pain if I do too much). I'm content as long as it is heading in the right direction - down!!!
