Mama always acused me of "drinkin' & chasin' women"...... : LUSENET : A Country Singletree : One Thread

..... well I can show her I've improved with age. Now I'm chasin' "drinkin' women". Should cut the time requirement down a mite :>)

About three months ago, I noticed a woman at the state store on my Wednesday whiskey run. She caught my eye and made an impression because we both bought the same brand of bourbon and I was in line behind her. After that I saw her again in the state store two weeks later. At this point I started making a conscious effort to schedule my Wednesday Whiskey Run for the same time each week in the hope she was on some sort of schedule and I might see her in passing more, which I got three more passing glances. Tonite I had the good fortune to meet up with her at the shelf with only one bottle of Ten High on it. We had to wait about between five and 10 minutes for the clerk to shelve a case from the stockroom and of course we struck up a conversation. :>)

We left the state store with our purchases and went to a tavern two streets over for a shot and a beer and a couple of games of billiards and the loser bought the second round.

Three hours later, I'm coming home with a phone number written on my forearm and signed up for a mixed team pool tournement on Friday night with a woman that I have enough in common with to really look forward to Friday night (we made enough in side bets to cover our liquer costs :>)

My mamma might not approve, but I bet my granddaddy is lookin' down with a grin :>)

So Jay did she look better after 3 hours of being in the bar? How much smarter are you feel this morning? LOL

Have fun! What ever happened to the worm woman?

-- Susan in MN (, May 09, 2002.

Three hours, but only two drinks. She looks sort of like Penny Marshall from "Laverne & Shirley" and can clear a 3-ball rack in three consistant with an occasional two stroke run. I did my serious shots after I got home.

now u can wiggle your worm drink shots and pocket your balls lol

I...oh no, I shouldn't...I better not...I can't. Still..never mind!

(I'd never forgive myself if I didn't!)

Let me get this didn't want a relationship with a hardworking honest-about-what-she-was-looking-for mother of young children and your idea of a "good date" is a woman who: looks like "Laverne"(yikes), who gambles, who writes her telephone number on men's forearms, who hangs around liquor stores waiting for whiskey, and who after a five minute conversation with a near stranger goes to a tavern for a shot and a beer and a couple of games of billiards...and you said the "loser" bought the next round?

Uhm, so who bought the next round?

-- Dr. Laurel (Dr., May 09, 2002.

Yep that sounds about right! Isn't it fun to be able to live vicariously through others Dr. Laurel? Heeheehheee, you got Jay to a tee, yup that's our boy alright and we're proud of him too!

You go Jay then well all know what not to do, and with Dr. Laurel's help we'll all figure out the middle road it the one we really want, maybe!

Dr Laura

Beauty goes deeper than that. She's a looker in her own right and is happy with herself and happy in her element. Least all she wanted was some company for a couple hours in a social atmosphere, not trying to use an old friend to establish security for her family.

Do you ever go out for a social drink and game of billiards? Ever shared a laugh over a brew and 9 ball rack? Ever notice how a girl in shorts holding a pool cue can be so appealing and sensual?

It was a wonderful alternative to the average evening. I sometimes wonder what you look like. Are you a natural blonde? Do you drink your whiskey neat or mixed. What are your interests? Maybe we've already met and didn't know it.

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (, May 09, 2002.

Jay I bet she looks like Sherly!

-- Susan in Mn (, May 09, 2002.

That should be Shirley

-- Me again (, May 09, 2002.

So perhaps you have found someone you can connect with, someone you can relate to, someone whose company you can enjoy. Thats truly a gift. A gift, do you realize that?

Yes, beauty DOES go MUCH further, much deeper than the surface allows us to see, doesn't it?

Its in the eyes, deep behind the eyes... in there is a reflection of her HEART, her SOUL, Jay...

The essence of HER...of ANY woman, of EVERY woman.

Do I ever go out for a social drink and game of billiards?

I'm chuckling at the mental image in my mind...not so very long ago... chalking my cue stick while circling the table like a huntress, squinting as I eyed my shot, calculating the angle and the English...tossing my hair (not blonde) and smiling slyly at my tall, dark, handsome and very unwary opponent...HE bought the next round.

Have Iever shared a laugh over a brew and 9 ball rack?

Yes, Jay. I have.

As to whether we have already met, thats the beauty of life, Jay.

You never know, do you?

You'll never know if I'm the 60 something lady on the produce aisle in the hideous pink jogging suit smelling peaches or the lonely mother of young children trying to reconnect with an old friend and hoping for a "possibility" and you'll never know if I'm that nubile blonde in the short shorts...or maybe, just maybe, I'm someone in between.

Thats the beauty of life and the challenge in it.

Look BEHIND the eyes, Jay, look deeper...look into the heart...into your own and into other's.

Hope you dont mind that I dropped the title, they seem so impersonal. I find your perspective quite tantilizing and therefore will have to gaze into the dark recesses of my study to see the misty outline of the inner you and develop a picture of you in my minds eye based upon our conversations. Someday maybe this vision will step free of the shadows which cloak it in mystery and reveal the beauty and complexities residing there.

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (, May 09, 2002.

She does look like the Laverne character, but she has a grace Penny Marshall didn't configure into the character Laverne. She moved around that table last night sleek as a panther while executing a 5 ball run.

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (, May 09, 2002.

Sounds like a "match made in Heaven"! Two people who each drink a bottle of whiskey a week...........What more could one ask for. LOL

-- Jodie in TX (, May 09, 2002.

Dr. Laurel do you have a pitch fork I can gag myself with! Blaaaah!

Jay, long lean woman are great! I play pool too and having long legs is a real advantage when you have those long shots over the pool table.

-- Susan in MN (, May 10, 2002.

I guess I go through one a week myself, but my standard is a "3 pack" to ensure enough for my friends too, when they come over to throw darts. Remember my Celtic heritage :>)

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (, May 10, 2002.

Jay, A 3 pack? I thought whiskey came in just bottles? I think I'll have to check those shelve better! :)

-- Sherry (, May 10, 2002.

You know that I skip through singing "a tiskit, a taskit, I throw 3 bottles in my little orange baskit " :>)
