Reading over at Countryside about Proms made me wonder if anyone is doing prom gowns? I didn't go to my high school prom, but in college, I had to attend a formal dance and needed a gown. Of course I was rather broke-I went to a thrift store and found a gorgous old dress for about five bucks then went to a fabric store and bought a few inexpensive trims, I trimmed out the bodice with some fake pearls and sparkly crystal beads. I bought an old pair of strappy sandles (thrift store again) borrowed some silver spray paint from the college drama dept. and spray painted them silver and hot-glued some rhinestones on them. I'm not sure what this get-up would have looked like in full daylight-but in the candlelit ballroom, it was pretty snazzy. Anybody else have any creative gown ideas or prom memories? I've made a smattering of fancy dresses and it was allways a lot of fun.

It's funny you brought this up. I was watching TV last night and on one of those entertainment news shows, they had some women dig out old bridesmaid dresses and Nicole Miller revamped them. Some of them were the ugliest things you had ever seen, and Nicole gave them new life. Your dress sounds very creative. I wish I had that skill or talen to do the same thing. If you want a garden or flower bed designed, I'm your person, though!

Hey, Wendy-actually, (since you brought it up) I DO need a garden space designed. We used to have an old mobile home on our property, fortuatly gone, but I'd like to turn that space into a flower /shrubbery garden and I don't have a clue how to get started. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
