DII vs. D3

I have an old DII; it does everything it's supposed to do beautifully except focus easily. I'm all set up with the proper Omega stuff and am not looking to change brands. Is it worth moving to either a D2 or D3?

Sounds like it's time for a focus mechanism CLA. I like the Automega D3, but you need various lens cones and condensers for it to be really versatile. Not to mention some focus tracks. The focus mechanism has a little plastic button that has to be intact for it to focus well. I make new ones out of Teflon for a smoother feel. Don't know if the DII has anything similar, but you should inspect it and determine why it doesn't focus easily. If it's a wheel/brass rod mechanism, clean it and use a bit of grease on the friction points.
