What's for supper??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Had a very busy day. My sister is in labor but it looks like it's going to be a long one!! So on the way home from my afternoon run (I drive a bus for special needs children) I needed to get hubby something from grocery store. I couldn't go past the yellow squash so thats what we are having. Just plain ole sauted squash with sweet onions!! Sure am glad the hubby doesn't like big meals. I fix big Sunday meals and he eats leftovers all week.He loves eating this way, I felt so guilty not cooking supper every night but he told me not to all the guys at work are jealous of his meals!!!!

So what's for supper around your home tonight??

Congrats on the forthcoming new family member! Nothing fancy here either - my Mom is coming to visit tomorrow, so tonight we clean (don't want her to see how we actually live ;-), and we're making baked potatoes with broccoli and horseradish cheese sauce. Easy, cheap and good.

I confess - I've been fighting a headache this afternoon and it's put me in a REALLY bad mood. I just declared the kitchen closed 15 minutes ago and we are going out to dinner and wander around the mall (they have a play area the kids love, and I almost NEVER go there anymore - too expensive and crowded!)

I'll be planning meals for next week tomorrow, so squash might be on the menu - I love it sauteed with onions!

Left over chili-mac with mozzerella on top, orange chunks with banana slices and rhubarb crisp. This is the first rhubarb we've used this year. Who was talking about rhubarb juice on here recently? How do you do it?

Kadia and I went to a banquet at her school. We had chicken, baked potatoes, salad, rolls, punch and strawberry topped cake for dessert!

Cow tongue, hard boiled eggs, homemade whole wheat bread, crackers. A rather strange supper, but good.

Well, I'm alittle late, but we had cheese burger soup and cuban bread. There were veggies and a plate also. It's been chilly here the last few days, so soup sounded good! Tonight is leftovers night, we clean up all the leftovers from the beginning of the week. My 13yr.old son loves this night! LOL!!!

Our pastor's late father used to call leftovers "musgo." He would look in the refrigerator and ask "What must go?" Ha, ha and we thought he was talking about muskrat!
