So who is coming down to Hampshtre?

I may/may not have a ticket but will certainly be available for the quaffing of ale

Any patrons?

Our mob are rolling off the train at 12:15 and popping into the Victory for a nostalgic sharpener or 3. Any suggestions for somewhere slightly more grandiose to carry on with the merriments Geordie? Maybe somewhere halfway between the station and St.Mary's?

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2002

Me, probably. Think I'll be getting the same train out of Waterloo as Dave and friends (11:00 am?). Should be a nice, quiet journey.

I'm trying to find an "away" friendly pub... never go near the place on match days.. it's a nightmare on the roads.

The inaptly named "Victory" is probably a good starter!... probably a good 20mins walk from there

Is the Victory at the station ? I'll be there with two of my brothers. Hope they don't run out of beer.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2002

Yup it's opposite the station....

Ocean Village has been suggested. Crumpet and ale, allegedly. Think I'll stick to the latter. Too old, and poor, for the former.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2002

Crumpet? I haven't heard that expression since I saw the Dick Emery show 23 years ago. Apparantly it's called 'fanny' these days. You're right Terry, you are indeed too old.

-- Anonymous, May 08, 2002

Dave, if you can remember the Dick Emery Show, then you too should be calling it crumpet. And that will make two of us who will be sticking to the ale. Unless we get accosted by fanny.

Gav - have you pre-booked the taxi from Bumblef**k to London.

Those meeting up - on no account believe it when Gav says he knows someone who lives down the road.

Be honest Scratchy, the excitement would be just too much for most of the BBSers. Also, it takes rather a lot of panache to be able to adhere to the dress codes around here - you have to have a real sense of style to be able to carry off the smock, and if you don`t get that piece of straw at a jaunty Worzel Gummage angle....well, let`s face it, you`d just be a laughing stock wouldn`t you! (;o)

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Gal... are you attending for drinks or match?

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Galaxy, You would be if you had a ticket for the home end. Toon end will probably be too pissed to notice. As long as the smocks are in away colours:-)

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

So where's this other pub then ? I could do with a pick me up !

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Sounding out the locals... looks like Ocean Village IS a possibility and also The Anglesey near the ground... still working on it.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

I used to live in the St Mary's area of Southampton when I was a student. Too long ago now for a knowledge of pubs to be useful. The whole area's been tarted up since I left. Or tarted down rather, since it was the red light area.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Tarted up???

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

That's my impression, Geordie. Al realtive I suppose ;-) Ocean village didn't exist. Derby Road was really skuzzy, and lined the whole way down with prostitutes (the very low end of the market ones). Mind you, rent was cheap - £15 a week. And that was in the 1980's not 1880's.

Galaxy

Are you still looking for a ticket..Home Fans but near the Northern lot so I am told. Please e mail me or leave a note here.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Terry, I have news of the good variety - still sniffing for Gav et al

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Bob - check your mail. (:o)

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

Well, with a lot of help from some really great people on here, it looks like Yelli and I might be squeezed into the new Dell after all!!! (:o))))))))

However, the bad news is that Ocean Village is no more. Pete was over in Southampton a week or so ago and apparently the bulldozers have been in and it has been flattened! It never really took off, and I think they will be building residential properties on there.

I shall be asking around about visiting fan friendly establishments, and will post again tomorrow. Victory (outside the train station) is a good starting point, but it is a walk to the ground, twenty minutes maybe. Don`t rely on me for directions - I always get lost in Southampton.(:o)

oh... and there's a free(with ticket stubs) (but busy) bus from the station.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

ok... so it's the Victory to start with and take it from there.

I'll be there around 11:00 ... to warm up

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

bliddy hell... just got a Toon end ticket!!! that's more like it

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Toon end ticket has just become available. Gav asked first so gets priority, then Min, then Galaxy, then it's a free for all.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

There's been a bad train crash at Potters Bar. Not wishing to ignore the very nasty side of it (ie injured and dead), but I would have thought that travel to Kings X tomorrow might be difficult, if anyone's looking to make the journey by train. Best make alternative arrangements.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Dave, if Gav doesn`t want it, it would be great if either Min or I could have it. I`ve been trying to get three tickets (don`t ask for much do I), I have got two definates, and one or two possibles. but it`s getting a bit late in the day.

If the possibles were to come up, I would pass your one on to the next on your list.

Can you mail me and let me know.(:o)

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Can anyone mail me a phone number for Dave.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

I'm here Galaxy! I think you're ok for the ticket - apparantly Gav spends his weekends in his new Swiss Ski Chalet and would rather play with his alpine horn than watch footy.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Cool! (I`m referring to the ticket and the Alps there!) That`s fantastic Dave! Meet you in the Victory then? That seems where most folk will be.(:o)

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Tickets now all snapped up, see everyone in the Victory.

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Just in case anyone stumbles on a ticket - any end - then I am staying at this contact phone number

01442 872084

May travel down without

-- Anonymous, May 10, 2002

Safe journey to all of you travelling down tomorrow. See you in the Victory!
