why are salgado's hands gripping a leica m in their new add and not a R? i thought he would use a few r6.2?

If Leica were to sponsor me or pay me for an ad, I'd hold whatever they wanted me to.

Seriously, I've read salgado mainly uses R6's, but occasionally m's.

Which other famous living photographer uses a Leica exclusively? I didn't think so......

Salgado uses both M and R, but mainly R and M for special purposes only, such as less intrusion and low light stuff. Makes sense to me.

I'm not sure what add you are refering to, but if it is the one on Leica AG home page, is it not the hand of Ralph Gibson?

Not that I know the look of either Salgado's och Gibson's hands – do you? –, but the quote in the add is said to be Gibson's.

There are different LEICA M7-ads with different hands of photographers out at the moment. So do not be surprized should you find your hands somewhere where you do not expect them to be.

Ray - Umm, Ralph Gibson, err David Allan Harvey... about half the National Geo staff..

Yes that's right. Forgive me. By the way those hands are holding a rather nice black paint M6TTL with matching black paint 35mm Summicron. Very nice.

Are these ads online? Does anyone have a link?

Just curious ...

leicas current 'hands' ad campaign is the stupidest thing i've ever seen. i'd much rather see examples of photos taken by these photographers than a picture of their hands holding a Leica. dumb...

I guess Leica's market segment is made up of buyers who like to look at themselves in the mirror fondling their Leicas.
