Free To Good Home (not a question)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have a refurbished Weston Master V, overhauled by Quality Light Metric in Oct, '96, that is "free to a good home." Comes with the incident meter cone and leather cases for both. I've used it for years with excellent results, and it still works according to spec - - provided you remember how to use a hand-held reflective meter . As an aside, when I went through the security "pat down" in Heathrow, in May, 1975, the elderly man muttered "What's that?" I replied: "Lightmeter." the response was: "Ah, yes, a Weston!"

We now have an M6 and M7, and I use a Sekonic 308B for our M4. The Weston hasn't been used in over a year, and I just hate to see viable accessories sitting on the shelf.

I'll ship it to you (US only, please). All I ask is that you send me a check to reimburse my shipping costs. Contact me via e-mail with your snail mail address. I'll ship it to the first-received address.

Stuart Dorman , Boulder Colorado had the first message to arrive. It's on the way to him.

George, Under no circumstances, whatsoever, will I agree trade my pre-ASPH 35 Summicron for yours. So, please don't ever ask again. Regards, Doug

But George,

if not your summicron, what about your M4 ? I'd also help you to get rid of your M6 ;-)

George

I would have paid good money for the Weston...

Kai -

My M4 has been reworked by Leica USA techs to install the M2 viewfinder masks (35-50-90) in lieu of the M4 masks. Makes for easier composition. Now - - if you'd like to part with your firstborn - - - - - -! < grin > Best, George

Weston Master V - was that the gray/silver one with a big perforated fold-down disk for low-light/bright-light and a funnel-shaped incident converter?

That was my first hand-held meter (c. 1972)

Hi Andy -

Yup, that's the one!
