By The Evening Chronicle Hundreds of messages of support have flooded in to the Chronicle's campaign to win Bobby Robson a knighthood.

Our Arise Sir Bobby appeal has been inundated with text messages from fans desperate to win the Newcastle United boss a gong.

We launched our campaign after senior players Alan Shearer and Kieron Dyer called for the 609-year-old to be knighted.

It followed the team winning a place in the Champions League to cap a memorable season at St James's park.

I think he deserves more than a bliddy knighthood. An entry in the Guinness Book of Records would be called for as well - and probaly a re-write of The Bible ;-)
