Ferguson spits his dummy out

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Most teams come in for a fair bit of criticism in the media. However Alex Ferguson seems to think his team is immune to it! On the whole the press and TV media are so far up the collective backside of Manchester United, they have nearly disappeared. When they do come in for some fairly muted criticism then Ferguson goes into orbit!

This time, some journalists have said Veron might not have been the buy Man u hoped he would be. Not THE most critical thing that could be said. However AF reacts by trying to chuck the media out of the press conference. Pathetic.

Do you not think it's his alzheimers kicking in Lynda, cos this morning he's admitting the title is arse's ?

Completely out of character, text book symptoms IYAM, and I should know :-{E}

And they say Bobby's going senile!

Who's Bobby then, Lydia ? :-{E}

He's throwing his toys out of the pram because this was supposed to be his fabulous farewell season - not quite so fab now they look like winning SFA.

Veron has definitely been a disappointment for Man U, especially with all the crap he came out with about always wanting to play for them. Careful what you wish for, eh? Almost as funny as Paul Scholes face when he missed Man U's 'equaliser' at our place this year.

:-D

I think you're all being very unkind. He only had £47m to spend.

What do you think KK is making of all this? ;-)

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2002

Loving it. Just loving it.

This match on Wednesday is almost a win-win situation for me (a draw would just take the p*ss)

If Man U win, there's a chance we might see Arsenal throw the title away after all their arrogance.

If Arsenal win, we would watch as the cockney's parade around Old Trafford with the trophy which would be some sight. Imagine how much it would hurt Fergie and his players.

I'm convinced the only reason Taggart signed a contract for another three years is because he knew he'd buggered this one up.

You're all overlooking the fact that Sky have the only say in all of this, and they have it organised to stay unfinished until the seventh minute of stoppage time on Saturday.

My sauce won't give the game away, but, although arse might.

......so, you're @rse might give the game away? Got me beat! ;o{)

I'd like Fergie to spend lot sof cash on the 2002 equivalents of Jordi Cruyf and Podborsky, over achievers at the WC who just aren't good enough for a top 2 Premiership side

Like Veron?

How about this for a piece of unbiased, academic integrity then - taken from an article about the Imperial Lord Ferg's dummy spit on Soccernet:

Professor Cary Cooper, who lectures in psychology at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, claimed Ferguson's rant should not be compared to Kevin Keegan's infamous 1996 outburst as his Newcastle side slipped up in the title race against United.

'It's not the same thing as with Kevin Keegan a few years ago,' Cooper said. 'Keegan was communicating to his players he was uncomfortable with what they were doing. It's different with Ferguson, as United aren't expected to win the championship now.

'I don't think it's mind games by Ferguson to stir up his players, it's just the frustration of people criticising Britain's most successful football team.

'Ferguson is usually in control of what he says and does, but it must be very, very frustrating to make decisions and be criticised for them. His judgement calls haven't been bad and if Veron stays, which I'm sure he will, he'll prove everyone wrong.'

Personally I was proud of KK saying what he felt about Ferguson's pathetic attempt to wind up the Leeds & Forest players before we played them. On the coach back from Elland Rd that night it sounded like a battle cry and I was genuinely shocked by the way the media saw it. Our title bid was effectively over by then anyway (no one really believed that ManU would fail to beat Boro) and the frustration showed.

Similarly if I was unfortunate enough to be a ManU fan I would be proud of Fergie telling the assembled hacks to F... off. He knows the title's lost and give him his due he always stands up for his players. Losing a CL semi and facing the prospect of the Gooners parading the PL trophy around your home ground SHOULD make you frustrated and angry. Just like KK he knows that his best wasn't good enough this time and he doesn't need some pig from The Sun to remind him.

The stupid bint reporter on ITV news kept going on about how she'd been looking to this match since the start of the season as a real title decider.

She obviously forgot that the match was originally set for nearly 2 months ago, but only got moved because of Arsenal's FA Cup run.

Well actually Dread he does. And remind him, and remind him, and remind him. Taggart the Braggart needs a good kick up the arse on a regular basis.

Or even a good kick from the Arse.

So do you think Wenger stopped by the trophy room on the way out to take the trophy home? It would save on shipping expense and hassle. ;-)

It was in the Sky Box, Ciara. However, they said before the game that even if @rse won it, it wouldn't be presented until after Saturday's game at Highbury. Fair dos. We'll want it to be presented at SJP next season. Anyway, there'd have been a riot at OT had it been given to @rse after the game. Hmm - wht didn't they then? Coulda docked both teams 10 points. Ah well, let them start on -10 next season.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

No chance of a riot at OT after the game Screach, there was neebody there - apart from 3,000 Ar$e supportas, the Manc tw@ts were long gone!

The only "Manc" I saw applauding the Ar$e was Bobby Charlton.

Well, actually Bud I noticed quite a lot of ManU fans in the main stand applauding the Arsenal players as they left the field - not a high % of those who attended the game I admit.

Listening to 5Live after the game the callers were generally split into two camps - ManU supporters congratulating Arsenal and saying they deserved it, and gloating cockney tw@ts, utterly lacking in class, trashing everything to do with ManU.

Poor losers, and also poor winners it would seem!
