Toon Down Under

As you might have noticed, us boys playing for Toon Down Under 4-a-side footy in Sydney have been a little quiet of late. Certainly we can be accused of 'you only post when your winning'. Well we made the playoffs this season. The wooden spoon playoffs to be precise. The bottom two teams play each other for the title of worst team in the league. Last night was the night. The other team was actually the team that won the league last season.
Usually boasting an ethnically cleansed team of all geordies, we were let down by half our team last night. Just me and Rog (aka Tynedale Man) made the effort. Muzza in Oz didn't live up to his name since he's in America and Sting cried off with a head cold. I managed to get a couple of ringers in at short notice.
I won't bore you with the details of the game but the outcome was the geordies trouncing the opposition 5-2. I scored 1 making rest of the goals unimportant.
I've considered paying tribute to the contribution that ADK made to our early season but some of his post transfer remarks regarding our ability have been deregatory, unkind, true, mean, accurate and complete with foundation/justification.

And you'll never guess who was our top scorer.... ahem.

It couldn't be ........ you, could it, Nick?

From what ADK told me last week, it's highly unlikely....

If they scored 5 last night, my guess is that top scorer for the season would be whichever ringer they got in who scored the other 4 goals.....

From what I understands he claims 10% of all goals he is on the park for, including the oppositions.

All deflections and own goals count for him as well. If anyone he brings into the side score he gets 50% as well.

I wonder who actually scored the most by actually putting it in the net themselves. Late news also told me Nick counts all the ones he scores during the "Warm up" as well.

If he claimed 10% of the oppositions goals he`d have a hefty total this season.

Not sure I've ever scored in the warm up. Hit the bar a couple of times. If I hit the woodwork a couple of times, I count it as a goal.

How many did you actually score?

-- Anonymous, May 07, 2002

5 I think. Possibly 6. Still waiting for the tables.

I`m sure I got at least 15 before I left.....

hmmmm

15 what Andy? Pints? Just to qualify this slightly, one of the ringers used to live next to a geordie so by big Jack's 'are you Irish' rules he's defo in, as for the other lad well, Jack Haywood could dow orse than sign the 35 yr old in question....
