I did it!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I ordered the Bessa R2 & the 50mm f1.5 Nokton. I took a shot at what I think will work best for me. Maybe the 21mm lens next. Thanks again for all of your help. John

Congrats! You got a new toy.

How much does it cost?

The body, lens, adapter and shipping came to $940 from Camera Quest. I didn't find the body anywhere else, and he has it in stock. I thought long and hard about M2s ans M3s. The LHSA catalogue from February has lots of cameras, but I wanted something new. John

The CV 21mm/f4 is a very good lens. Sure it's slower than the Leica ASPH 21/2.8, but the CV is under $500.

John

I am in the market for an M2 - how do I get the LHSA catalog that you refer to? How do the prices compare to other places such as Tamarkin, ebay, etc.

Thanks

Nick, the catalogue comes on alternate months from the Viewfinder magazine, which all members of LHSA receive. The camera and gear is sold by members of LHSA. There is a great variety of things and prices. Personally, I would have greater faith in the catalogue than ebay, in general. You can check their website for the membership information. John

Don't forget. You have to focus very carefully with the Nokton wide open at 3 feet, otherwise you won't see the performance of this lens. I am sure you will like this available light lens. Happy shooting.
