Is D60 as good as an SLR for Advanced Amateurs?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have an Elan II. With the price of a D60 around $2000, It might almost be cheaper to use over the course of a year. Would the D60 give me comparable images to the Elan II, with the same EOS lenses?

I don't have a D60 to play with, but the consensus of opinion of those that have used it, say the D60 is every bit as good as 35mm film for most situations. A few people said that about the D30 too, but a lot more are saying it now.

You do loose a lot of wide angle capability though.

For prints, looks like it. For slides, no. Lots of arguing back and forth, but the D60-derived prints I've seen look quite good.

Note that the D60 is, in fact, an SLR. It's just a digital SLR camera and not a film SLR camera.

Mine just arrived today from B&H. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.
