Good morning everyone...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

You should be able to get back to normal posting now... I just re-set it, but sometimes it takes a little while to updae the settings.

I am slowly sending out e-mails to people who have requested the password, so I think that we will soon be back to noraml, With one notable exception of course!!!

I know that many lurkers are going to be disappointed, but I do not want to take the chance that Stan gets a fake hotmail address and uses someone elses name... Since we are moving to the new board within a few weeks, I think we will just have to do this for now...

Well I will probably be busy sending e-mails today so I hope that on Monday things can get back to the way they always were. Enjoy the forum!

Thanks for sending me the email. I couldn't log into MSN with any of my emails; cantankerous service there. I'm anxious to see the new forum.

Hmm, I was going to start a new post, but see it's not enabled yet. No problem. Here's something to warm your day, first published here.

Good Morning

Outside my bedroom window, trees
   wave greeting as I rise;
Their quivering fingers play the breeze
   and bring today's suprise

This will get posted later on my new weblog Random Variables. But I figured y'all deserved it first today.

Good morning...and it's a beautiful day. A bit cold, but this is Wisconsin! We're about to go shopping. Groceries as usual and then we're looking at new dining room furniture. We got an estimate on refinishing our old one with six chairs and it was $1600. My goodness, we didn't pay that much for it 15 years ago! Oy vey! DH says that perhaps we can do it ourselves after his retirement and sell the old set. Well, I've written a book here. Sorry for rambling. Bye!

Yes, good morning to all. Sunny here in Michigan FINALLY and I am planning on playing outside today. I do wish it were warmer though, but hey sun is good. I tryed to post something also.....still not able to. I have started a site for journalists.....on this board and password protected. Details on CS. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Unfortunately, this is not a good morning in our home. The past few days have been just awful. Our dog has been missing since Wed. morning. He was let out to do his 'business' as usual, but never came back. I know many of your love your pets, too, so you understand how we feel. He is one of our little loves & the house seems very quiet & empty without him. Ugh...... Anyone have any good encouraging stories about dogs returning home after many days?? That would be good to hear! ha! ;) THANKS!

Randal-

What a lovely poem, thanks for sharing it with us. Did you write it?

It's nice to be back and know we will be safe here. Melissa thanks for sending out the password so quickly and thanks for keeping this a nice place to be.

Oh Heather! I do hope and pray your dog returns soon..I cannot imagine how you must feel! We are drying out this afternoon from pretty much non-stop thunderstorms since early morning Friday..our area received 2 inches of rain!...New chicks are doing well being raised by the best Banty hen this side of the Mississippi..we made a chicken nursery out of an old dog kennel, including an outside run..I had to do some reading about feeding chicks and the Banty though since we have always free-ranged our hens! I was ready to get some chick feed at the local store when it occured to me that if I took the laying pellets and cranked them through the grain mill, I'd have my own chick feed..hey! It worked!!!! So now every morning, I make a batch of fresh chick feed, throw in a few greens and grit and the chicks and Banty are thriving...I feel like a real homesteader now! yeehaw. It wasn't any fun when I used cracked corn though..that stuff is HARD to hand crank through the mill....ouch!...we took a drive this morning, and on the way home I glanced into a neighbors' field and saw a male wild turkey, displaying all his lovely feathers!!!! We've been here in AL for two years this June and often see turkey hens on our land, but never have we seen a Tom! He was magnificent!...Time to go now..Neil's going to help me in the kitchen..our church is having a neighborhood supper tonight and I am making Amish Whoopie pies...remember those from last year>?? The artery cloggers?? LOL....Cardiologists should pay me for baking these..keeps them in business!

Lesley, where in AL are you? We are 30 min. north of Montgomery.

-- Rebecca (rebeccagallant@earthlink.net), May 04, 2002.

Jacksonville...NE Alabama..about an hour NE of Birmingham, 2 and a half hours West of Atlanta, GA, and 2 hours South of Chattanooga,TN...where all the tornados that don't go to Texas and OK live..LOL...

Thanks again Melissa. You are doing a great job. I just finished reading all of the postings again. Jennathome

Elizabeth, yes, I wrote the poem. Thanks for your kind words. I give credit to others when posting (or say it's unknown if I don't know the author). Guess I would do well to add my name to my verses, huh? :-)

Heather - I hope your dog returns soon! Mine took off a few weeks back in the middle of a snowstorm....was a terrible few hours (esp. after I happened to see him chasing deer way off in the distance - which is why we don't let him lose!). He did return though, and I hope yours will too. Dogs have a keen sense of home, keep watching and praying!

The weather here is beautiful but a little too windy. Worked with my DS's pony yesterday and was going to work with DH's horse today but the wind might prevent that. I was also going to go out and get a jump on the burddock in the pastures but it might be too windy to spray vinegar too. We'll see. Not sure what today will bring yet!
