Universal Polarizer Protection?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Spring is here and I have a Leica M Universal Polarizer (13356) on its way from Delta International. The polarizer has a built in shade on the front of the filter but no lens cap protection that I can determine. To keep my shutter safe and the filter glass clean do any Universal Polarizer users out there have a suggestion on a lens cap which will fit over the shade?

TIA :-)

I don't think there is a need for a lens cap if you have a hood on your lens.

I don't keep the polarizer on the lens except when shooting, it's too likely to get banged. I turn my Leica so the lens faces the ground when I'm not shooting (flip the strap rings so they face the bottom of the camera and it'll stay pointed down). But if you measure the polarizer there must be an old R-type cap that'll fit over it, maybe will need a bit of tape inside to make it a tighter fit.
