Saunders 11x14 4 bladed easel - which one

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

Thanks for all the advice on easels. Now I have another question.

The major vendors list four different models in the 11x14 size range:

- Slim track

- V track

- 14x17 Universal (This one goes up to 11x14 with the blades installed or 14x17 with blades removed.

- 11x14 UA (the picture shows knobs holding the blades in place).

Prices range from about 150 to about 200.

The 14x17 Universal looks like the most bang for the buck. Is there any reason that I should consider one of the others?

Thanks.

Buy one with the knobs on eBay. You can get one in excellent condition for about $100. This style is more substantial and, in my opinion, far superior to the other models.

Forgot to mention that the blades can be adjusted on the model with knobs to make sure they are squared.

I have both a V Track and UA 1620. I like the V Track better.

V track is very much worth the extra money! The universal is the industry standard so to speak but the V track is so much more smooth.
