Geese eggs-How long?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My geese have laid about 11 eggs all together and I was wondering how long do they set? It seems to have been awhile and I haven't a clue about geese. Thanks for the help.-

28 days for geese. I just had some hatch in an incubator. How cute! The runt is in my sewing room right now all cuddled down in the straw under a light bulb. Cute as can be! If the parents hatch them themselves somehow the eggs know to wait and they usually hatch within a few days of each other. When she stops laying and starts setting it shouldn't take but 28 days. If it is warm out it will not take as long because the others will have started doing their thing too.

We just had 6 out of 9 hatch in the hot box in about 30 days. Had a nest out on the pond where she must have had twenty (at least) eggs that she never has been able to hatch. Next time we'll do more in the hot box.

IT TAKES 28 DAYS EXACTLY IF YOU PULL HER EGGS ONCE SHE HAS STOPPED LAYING AND THEN IS SETTING. PUT THEM IN THE INCUBATOR AND PULL THEM ON THE 25 DAY AND PUT THEM IN A HATCHING INCUBATOR WITH THE PROPER HUMIDITY OF ABOUT 50 TO 55% AND WAIT FOR THEM TO HATCH. THE LAST THREE DAYS THEY SHOULD NOT BE TURNED SO THAT THE BABIES CAN PIP OUT OF THE SHELL AND NOT DROWN IN THE FLUID.

The reason I wrote 28-34 days for the eggs to hatch is it depends on the breed.
