Osterloh Book

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have a book by Gunter Osterloh for sale on eBay. "Applied Leica Technique" I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this type of notice. I am not sure about the group's policy of advertising Leica materials.

Jack,

Nice to hear from you but you don't have to apologize! This Forum is not incorrect!! As far as I know, no bad policy of advertising Leica materials. If we like it, we say so. If not, ditto. As re your book, I (we) know of Osterloh's "Advanced school in..." or whatever, which is to reappear soon. See the newest postings having come lately here. We all recommend this book.

Jack,

In general, it's good netiquette to offer an item to a group before posting an advertisement for your E*bay auction. Many groups actually ban Ebay auction advertisements.

Gunter did at least two English-languate Leica books, one for the R and one for the M-system. The one for the M-System is much more sought after, regularly bringing $100+ in good shape. The general problem with the M books is that the binding wasn't top knotch and the pages usually are seperating/ed from the binding. Often the books are missing pages. I hope you looked through the book and made sure that all the pages are in your R version. I've heard he's trying to do a second edition, but is not able to get a publisher right now.

Good luck with the auctionn in any case.

Jack,

In case you're interested, the book I mentioned is called "Leica M: the Advanced School of Photography" and the last edition was the 4th edition (1996). First edition was 1985 and these are all in German. Also, the last English version was not a translation of the 4th edition. Wait till September/October.
