I have been working with Alan Harper (831.521.1879) at the Navy Post Graduate School (NPS). He is working on a thesis project in cooperation with DONCIO. This project makes use of Secure Shell (SSH).

Outbound initiated SSH is currently not allowed through the DNHN firewall. Oddly enough, outbound Telnet is allowed. This makes no sense; secured Telnet not allowed, but unsecured Telnet is!

I put a Windows XP machine logically outside the DNHN firewall and was able to connect to the SSH site.

The site address is 63.205.26.67. Username is vats and the password is 00n3t0ps.

Got a call from Susan on the firewall team. She told me the hole has been opened again, at the request of Lynne Gaudreau's help desk ticket.

I am not sure of the duration of the hole.
