which lens combo

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

This is a question for the seasoned travelers. I will be going to Rome and Venice. these are the lens combos I have narrowed it don to: either my 35-135+24mm, or 22-55usm+100f2.8 macro. I have found that I either shoot wide landscape shots, or portraits and like to travel as light as possible so the 75-300 will stay home. any advice thanks LB

I'd go for the first combo (35-135, 24) as the 22-55 lens sucks. And that comes from personal experience. Are these lenses you own already or ones you'll buy?

When I'm travelling light I carry my 50E, 24mm, 28-105mm and a 420EX flash.

Rome is an amazing place, although everyone drives like assholes and people on mopeds like using the sidewalk. Never been to Venice. Have fun

These are lenses that I already own. Actually for some reason(maybe luck) my 22-55 which was a curiousity purchase, has turned out to be pretty good. Its not as sharp as my ef24mm, but is good enough for 8x10. You are correct about Rome, also I remember that thieves are everywhere.

I'd go for the 24-85 or 20-35/3.5-4.5 and 75-300 IS.

Those were not from the choices I gave, and would not be the choice for light traveling,or quick shots when traveling, thanks anyway.LB
