You need a DVD player that has the ability to read CD-R's, a good give away is if it can play MP3's.

Not all DVD players can play CD-R's, even though they may display the VCD logo.

Best player I have seen to-date is the Wharfdale M5, it's pretty cool, and can be unlocked for Multi-Region playing...

http://www.vcdhelp.com has a compatibility list that tells which DVD players support CD-R media. Most likely this is your problem. You can try burning to CD-RW as sometimes players that don't support CD-R will play CD-RW discs, but this doesn't always work.

if you get roxio easy cd creator 5 you can make vcds you need tmpg encoder as well which can be downloaded on the net its only about 1 meg just encode the file with tmpg then go on to roxio and drag it then roxio does all the work to make a vcd that works you can drag loads of files and it puts them all together to like make a really big cd full of mpegs
