Romantic writers, by definition, focus on several things. First, they have an interest in nature, which doesn't always fit with Poe. Next, they focus on the strange and unusual (i.e. imagination). Romanticism is really a reaction to and a movement away from classicism. The romantic writer focuses on the individual over society and writes about emotion instead of reason.

Hope this helps.
