HEY JIM-MI, My worms did get me a date!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A Country Singletree : One Thread

You kidded me about using my worm studies as a "pick up line". I saw the same girl fishing by the backwaters of the Tennessee River for the last 3 weekends. Today, I took a tupperware bowl of adult breeders and my rod and reel and went down beside her to fish and introduce myself to her. She noticed the unconventional bait container and the conversation progressed over the next 5 hours. Found out she's 29, recently divorced, career oriented and no children.

We made a date for fishing the Saturday after next and she called tonite to ask if I wanted to go to the arts festival in Huntsville tomorrow. So dude, the worms were effective as a common ground starting point of "the dating game" :>)

Anybody want to start a betting pool on how soon and how critical "Dr Laural's" rebuttal will be. (climbing into kevlor body armor with reinforced "Bobbit proof" cod piece :>)

Mitch,

During the course of our conversation, I discovered that she dabbles in stock investments as many of us in the professional sector and currently has elected to "job share" her position to allow more time to enjoy herself during the warm weather.

Hark All......Could that be the sound of wedding bells we are hearing?

No barbs about, it is it possible Jay could be hooked?

It is great to meet on a common ground interest point.

This is kind of a side bar, but I want to post it: On Saturday the conservation club I'm a member of, put on a "Kids Fishing Day" For my volunteer efforts I received HUGH rewards in big smiles and thankyou's!!!........most gratifying.

I really hope all goes well with your common interest friend!

Wahooo! Alright Jay, you sure do know the way to a woman's heart. Have fun at the art fest. Sounds like she may be just the nerdy type of girl you need. Just remember my word of warning to you about the year. Same for her, one year no involvement, your not thinking right until that time is up. I promise I'm right!

So Jay are you gonna invite her to come over to see your worms?

Mitch, Does that rule of yours apply to guys too!

Jay have a great time tomorrow.Let us know how it goes.

Susan, I did not post a rule, I posted an observation and yes it works both ways FOR SINGLE PEOPLE, married people are otherwise!! Being alone for 23 or more years makes one aware. I suggest 3 to 5 years of alone time before trying an involvement again; it gives you time to learn yourself; it gives you time to kick the habit of dependesment on others; rebound relationship fail as much as business partenerships (very high on the scale).

Wedding bells .... No way. I just took a shot at meeting someone new. We had to cancel the arts festival due to weather, but are still on for fishing in two weeks. Susan, I have already made up my mind to concentrate on my own life first and dating second. Much as we all do when we are younger. I figure to allow anything to grow as it will.

My husband hates to camp hates to fish, hates to ride horses!! I tell you if he didn't have some really good things I like about him (Like he tells me to have fun when I go off to do these thing) I would be divorced to. Mybe she was just married to a city slicker and is a country girl. Good Luck on your date. I lived with my husband for 12 years before he talked me into marrying him LOL we have now been married for 3 years. I would not get married till my kids were out of high school.
