THE saddest movie ...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

We usually don't see movies in the theater. I'm not sure when this movie came out, but we rented "Artificial Intelligence" last night. This is a Spielberg film with the little boy who starred in the "I see dead people" movie. (I'm really not used to watching movies...sorry.)

This movie had us crying from about halfway through all the way to the end, when we boo-hooed through the credits. I cried myself to sleep last night. While it is sci-fi, the story itself really has little to do with technology. It's more about the terrible consequences of responsibility for what one has created.

If you need catharsis, this is the movie for you. :)

helen,

How strange! I watched that movie with my son last night as well. I thought it was a great movie, even though I remember how many people didn't like it at all.

I didn't boo-hoo, but I was gripped with the story. I just felt so for David.

If you haven't seen this movie yet and have the time and a couple of bucks, go rent it from Blockbuster.

I haven't seen "Artificial Intelligence", but I think there was another movie on the same theme, reasonably OK movie I thought, that came out years ago. I don't remember the title, all I remember is that it starred one of the kids who was in the movie "Stand by Me."

I liked the line (don't remember the male character's name)... "Once you've had one of us, you'll never want a real man again."
