Today, April 26, we members of the Catholic Church family may celebrate the old feast of the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Good Counsel. We also honor, in a special way, the following friends of God -- saints whose souls are now in heaven:

Bl. Alda of Siena (Italian, widow, Tertiary of Humiliati [Holy Humility of Mary], devoted to alms and mortification, d. 1309)
St. Basileus of Amasea (from Asia Minor [Turkish], bishop, martyred by drowning in 319)
St. Clarentius of Vienne (French, bishop, c. 620)
Pope St. Cletus [also known as Anacletus] (Roman, third pope, elected in 76, reigned until martyrdom c. 88)
Bl. Dominic and Bl. Gregory (Dominican missionary priests in Moslem Spain, d. 1300)
St. Exuerantia of Troyes (French, virgin, d. 380?)
St. Franca Visalta of Piacenza (Italian, Cistercian abbess, d. 1218)
Bl. John of Valence (French, Cistercian abbot, bishop, d. 1146)
St. Lucidius of Verona (Italian, bishop, 4th century)
Pope St. Marcellinus (Roman, elected to papacy in 296, reigned until death in 304)
St. Paschasius Radbertus (French, foundling raised by monks, Benedictine abbot, hermit, writer, d. 865)
St. Peter of Braga (Portuguese, bishop, martyred in 6th century?)
St. Richarius (French, missionary priest, abbot, hermit, d. 645)
St. Trudpert of Munstethal (Irish, hermit in Germany, abbot, martyred c. 644)

If you have anything to share about these holy people, please reply now -- biographical episodes, prayers through their intercession, the fact that one is your patron saint -- whatever moves you. If you are interested in one of these saints and want to find out more about him/her, please ask. Information is sometimes available on the Internet.

All you holy men and women, saints of God, pray for us.
God bless you.
John
