......er threads that is, not goals.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Ciara won't be up yet!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Well now that we've reached the CL, and in the spirit of today's big party, I suppose we can now let Screach have his match day thread. besides he'll never shut up about it until he gets one ;-)

Webcast is up, so's the Metro idiot. Off to feed the cat and make breakfast for myself. See youse all in a few.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

OK Screach, early xmas prezzie for you. We'll all play on your thread today...:)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Bobby messin around with our team picks again...
Given
Hughes Dabs O'B Bernard
Solano Dyer Speed Robert
Lx3 Shearer

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

So is this the bloody match day thread then or what?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

It will be if Greenspun manages to stay up, it just hiccuped. If this crashes, head on over to www.ezboard.com, then go to Newcastle United bbs.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

http://pub84.ezboard.com/fnewcastleunitedbbsfrm1

Is where we'll be if it all goes bandy....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Bernard is definitely the logical choice. However, since this is a no- pressure match, I'd have liked to see Robbie Elliot get a game....

Hopefully, his LAST game, at SJP...

He's a trier and a Geordie and deserves a good send-off. Of course, I'd be happy for him to stay as a squad player, but 3rd choice behind Bernard and a NEW WORLD-CLASS LB.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Yeah, I'd have thought Elliott would start today for that reason. I wonder if Bobby is already working on the idea of rotation with defenders. Or trying to work out if Dabs really is the weakest link. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

nnnnnggggg...webcast starting to break up. Hope it goes smoothly during the match. I'm sure WHam's is better quality, but for the last home match this season I want to go Newcastle all the way. Even if it means listening to that idiot blabber on.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Oh yeah, and can I say COME ON IPSWICH!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Are you hillbilly-free today Ciara?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Yup! At home, so only my cat around to cause commotion. He's pretty quiet and listens to what I tell him to listen to. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

And yes......COME ON IPSWICH!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Ok, why is Metro playing reports from all the other grounds rather than allowing us to listen to the roar of our crowd as the team runs out to the strains of Local Hero?! grrrrr!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

JEEZ! And they missed kick off! good work! NOT!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Because it's METRO and an essential part of the webcast football experience....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

THERES ONLY ONE BOBBY ROBSON!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Wonder if we can hire the Derby guys for next season. They'll be in Nationwide so probably won't always be playing the same time as us.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Don't bother telling us what happened. We can figure it out when you say, "Distin is warming up...oooh, looks like his collarbone...Derek Wright is out...O'Brien is down and looks to be in some pain"

Stream of conscious webcasting at it's finest.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

O'Brien clobbered. Ah well, it's the end of the season...

He'll be OK apparently. Who nose what happened?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

At first I thought Distin was warming up but had problems with his collarbone! ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

BTW, O'Brien can't go getting too injured. Ireland may need him!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

It's the Ciara and Steve show on here again. Where is everybody?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Must be at the match or watching on telly. :-(

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Swine. Ah well, I'm just starting a lovely bottle of Rioja. Fancy a glass?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

we're all watchin the Ciara and Steve show!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Pleased to be of service Sparxx. Don't talk to me about shows though. I've got to go and watch a musical (which I hate),the Pirates of Penzance (which I don't know), in Catalan (which I don't understand) starring wor Lass's cousins (who I don't know and don't really want to).

I think I'll finish this wine before I go...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

ahh the things you do for love....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Wine sounds good, thanks. Pirates of Penzance is a good show, though not sure I'd enjoy it much in Catalan. Of course, I saw it on Broadway, so production and star values may not be quite as high.

Best drink up, Steve, might help your enjoyment. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

The things you do for guilt more like. I came home from the pub in a right state a couple of weeks ago (which, honestly, is not a regular occurence). I was a bit 'out of order' (although not THAT bad) and she, cunningly, asked me to go to this show the next day when I was sheepish and apologetic.

Damn...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

My cat is certifiably thick. He sits next to me when I'm on the computer, despite his obvious interest(cocked head and ears) in noises outside(birds, dogs, lawn mowers). I just had to walk him over to the window and make him look out. He's now doing the normal cat thing and staring out the window.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Back on topic....there's being relaxed and playing nice football, then there's being relaxed and allowing WHam too many chances...can we have more of the former please?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

ooooohhh... that's worthy of a caution... yellow card on her mate...taking advantage of a guilt ridden hangover...and furthermore expecting you to have to live up to it???? Yellow Card.... akin to a tackle cleats showing!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

SHIT.

So much for the party. I hate Wham, and especially Roeder.

Bastards.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

WHam scores, we cas t br s u !

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

bollocks.....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

it's the times like this when we play absolute shite that makes me believe we are not ready for CL.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Right, switched over to the WHam-cast. Can't take the breaking up on our own. WHam's is crystal clear, even though it so compressed it sounds like 1940s radio. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sounds like they've woken up anyway.

Definite yellow for my missus though sparxx. She insists I'll enjoy it, which is worrying coz it suggests that she doeasn't know me at all. I'll bloody hate it. Not my scene at all. Plus I've still got cold and won't be able to have my Saturday Cigar beforehand....:(

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

This wine's nice...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Plus, I forgot to mention, her twittering friends are coming as well. They'll be nattering on with each other and I'll be stood there scowling in a mood as usual. WHY she wants my company at these things is beyond me.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Aren't her friends bringing their husband's/s.o's/boyfriends? At least you can all bond in your misery while they twitter away. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

BTW.....are we doing anything of note in this match? I realize I'm listening to the WHam-cast, but it still sounds like it's all WHam.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Back on Metro...still sounds like it's all WHam. :-(

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

I realize we're in the CL, have sewn up 4th, and are unlikely to move into 3rd even if we win our last 2 matches, but.....can we possibly not totally embarrass ourselves in them?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

That's more like it!!!! Who else but......SHEEEAAAAAAAREEEEEERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

SHEARER! THE MAN'S UNSTOPPABLE!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Hope that wakes the lads up. Let's GO FOR IT!!!!!! :-D

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Evening all. Shearer scores but we cud be 4 down.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Thought I'd join you since it seems a bit lonely on here. Let's get Shearer the Golden Boot! Looks like the goal has woken everybody up.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Ciara - nah, the others are all single. And to be honest, the more offish and moody I am with them all, the more they seem to like me. Makes no sense. It must be the 'foreigner' thing...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Great ball by Robert.Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh that shud've been 2-1

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Ahhhh.......this is MUCH better! ATTACK!!! ATTACK!!! ATTACK!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Half time. Let's have some subs on for half time maybe?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Yep, Steve, it's the moody, brooding, mysterious foreigner thing. ;- )

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

The subs might be more effective if they come on for the second half, I would think. Unless they're meant to entertain the crowd during half time.

Champagne, prawn sarnie, fur coat....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

I early in the second half. I'd like to see Chopra get a run out, maybe for Shearer on 80 mins or something. Apart from that, Jenas on for Speed and Harper on for Shay, to give the crowd a chance to applaud him.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Hello all.

Just got rid of the mother in law. First half doesn't sound so good - but at least big Al is getting nearer to the boot..Hasselbank not playing today which helps greatly & hopefully Ipswich will put the shackles on Van Nistelroy.

Surprised to see Sunderland managing to score double figures away from home. (2 is a double isn't it?)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

What is the mackem's score?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

H-T.1-1.

A first half where W ham had all the chances and should be ahead but a great thru ball by Robert and Shearer slotted home from the edge of the box.Lua Lua looking out of sorts. W Ham seem to be taking this more serious than our boys.

Lets hope for a more positive second half.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Nah, Ciara, surely that doesn't exist in real life? I just want to discourage her friends from asking her to ask me along on ALL OF THEIR BORING NIGHTS OUT...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

How's the crowd today? Lively, quiet or what? There can surely be no excuses left for not getting behind the team..

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Hello all - just come in and for once didn't go straight to Sky Sprouts but scrolled slowly down the thread instead to reveal the latest. That is, I grant you, quite sad.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Under 17's have won 3-2 away to Sheffield Wednesday to set up a 2 legged final with Man. U who beat Leeds kids 2-0.

Howay the Bairns.

Ps Steve Charlton 1 - Slumberland 2

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Afternoon all...Sunderland were one down at Charlton within two minutes, Kilbane got an equaliser within seconds and Philips put them 2-1 up after eleven mins.

Still Charlton 1 - 2 Sunderland at half-time.

And, dare I say it, for the sake of north east football in general, I hope Sunderland stay up. Ipswich v Man Utd is a 5.35pm kick off.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

?????????????????????

Howay Charlton! I'm not especially anti-mackem but they have played HORRIBLE football this year and I feel genuinely sorry for Ipswich who I would much prefer to see stay up. I can't see it happening, but that would be my preference.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Here we go.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Crud! I thought the Ipswich game was tomorrow. Dangit! And I've already arranged to go shopping with a friend this afternoon. Hope I come home to good news! COME ON IPSWICH!!!!!!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

What's the cat up to now Ciara?

Distin is on.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

OF course, that's the case, Stevo. Always nice to show off your trophy foreign boyfriend to your mates. ;-))

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

OF course, that's the case, Stevo. Always nice to show off your trophy foreign boyfriend to your mates. You're doomed. ;-))

Looks like I'll have to hack and cough through a cigar then. There the only things guaranteed to clear me some personal space...:)

Fun and no games elsewhere. Ananova:

Ayr United match abandoned

The Scottish League First Division game between Ayr United and Airdrie has been abandoned after some Diamonds' fans invaded the Somerset Park pitch.

Airdrie supporters have been incensed at Ayr chairman Bill Barr's involvement in their own club's problems and broke the crossbar on one of the goals.

The incident came directly after Stewart Kean fired Ayr into a 21st- minute lead.

Referee Bobby Orr immediately took the players off the pitch as the fans raced on.

Airdrie pressure group, Diamonds Direct Action, had warned that action would be taken at the game.

On police advice, as the mood of the crowd became more dangerous, Orr abandoned the game.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

That's 'they're'. Bloody typing.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Nah, that'll only add to the mystique. Farting and scratching your arse and pits on the other hand....

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

I'd be incensed if I lived in Ayr as well. I went to Butlins there for a week as a kid and it pissed down non-stop.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Well, I'm growing my hair and it's at that 'in-between' stage (imagine Keith Richards on a windy day). That oughtta frighten em off... and farting and pit scratching are available on-demand :)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sounded like just one. He must've been told to cool it after straining his groin. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Just the one back flip today.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Bloody crowd only start singing when we're one up.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Nope, Steve....sounds like you've got that brooding English rock star type thing going. Quite sexy to foreign lasses. Nothing short of crude buffoonery will turn them off. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

OOOOOOOoohhhhhhhhh.... nearly. Robert.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Afternoon all, I see we're up to our favorit trick, come back kings!

Better start on the cans of lager then, to build up the gas for the killer burps later...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Let's stuff these scumbags. Revenge!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Attack of the Killer Burps...

now there's a film.... ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

We should be going all out. These are 2 matches where the result really doesn't matter a jot. Perfect opportunity to do showcase our attacking strengths without worrying about the need to defend. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Certainly sounds like a big improvement on wor first half performance,,from the chances in between the hiccupping metro BC

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Not sure if it's coincidental, but I find stopping and restarting the webcast cures the hiccups for awhile.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

The cyber-equivalent of holding yer breath...

the subs, the physios, coaches...usual suspects. ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Anyone think Robert will go to the World Cup now Pires is knackered? Surely France can't leave a player of his caliber behind, especially being a left footer!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sounds like it may be great stuff in the second half. Of course with the absolute crap webcast that we get I actually can't tell for sure. Any way we can get the club to do something about this for next season?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Thank goodness for Mr Robson's half-time talks. Much better than the first half. THank goodness.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Who's drinkin' Kaliber???!!!

Spoilt here in Oz. Live pics for the 3rd game on the trot.................Nice

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sinclair gone off injured

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Bobby should start giving his half time talks before the match. Another season of coming from behind and I'll be on blood pressure medication! ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

..though I much prefer this to our old habit of playing well in the first half then collapsing in the 2nd!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Nah, until NTL completely bites the dust and/or severs links with NUFC we will be stuck with .cock and the webcasts. The club have point-blank refused to even consider criticism or look at the situation. It's jobs for the boys and nothing will change it bar a bankrupcy.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sunderland under lots of pressure at Charlton...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Cmon Charlton!!!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Yes Ciara, I agree. Mind, it does make you believe that the game is never lost for NUFC

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Damn, Shearer almost through on goal, James saved

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Is Wor Al still on the pitch? Want him to get 2 more today..

He just got a stuttred mention.

Come on Al go for goal....Everyone should be trying to set him up.

For goals that is.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

He still might Ciara. But not until the very last minute.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Nope that's our 3 subs used. Distin came on for O'B at half time

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Sorry. Forgot that one. Must be a hope for the golden booty.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Robbie Elliots son just scored a goal! SIGN HIM!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Well done Lads. Look forward to a party in Southampton next week.

What a place for Alan to sign off with a Hat trick.

Tribute by Toon Army to Lord Bobby sounds good on Metro.

Why does the stuttering stop when the game is over?

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Not fair! I want to be there! WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

An I the only one with tears in my eyes listening to this? Wonderful stuff!

Me too, Steve! It's killing me that I couldn't find a cheap lst minute fare.

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Not at all Ciara

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Why have they turned on the tannoy music? That's a NOW FUCK OFF signal if ever there was one. Why can't we do these things? Lack of practice?

Now Metro has gone off as well. AARGH!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

My effing computer crashed!!! Now I come back and Metro's effed off as well. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell do you do when suffering partius interruptus?!

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Mtero now totally off. Ah well, we'll just have to wait for reports from the attendees for our vicarious thrills...

-- Anonymous, April 27, 2002

Guess I'll just go shopping and parade my Toon top around the malls. Once Ipswich ko, there's no point even listening to 5 Live as they'll cut internet broadcast until after the game.

GEORDIES IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!
THERE'S ONLY OOOOONNNNNEEEEE BOBBY ROBSON!
