Can I use the 12585 hood on an Elmar 50 2.8 collapse?

Hi, I have an elmar 50mm 2.8 collapsible (the 2nd version, red dot, with focus locking tab).

Can I use the Lens hood 12585 (the nice vented clip on one), or will it vignet my pics (or will it just be useless in preventing flare?)

Thanks Phillip

I have one from 1957 and am using the proper ITOOY hood which is narrower than the 12585, so the latter should not vignette. Any hood is better than none. The best hood is the screw on one for the current Elmar.

The 12585 will work on the original as well as the current Elmar. When I had the cuurent model that's what I used. The screw-on hood made filter-changing a ridiculously slow task.
