If you are analizing the setting, there is much significance in the colors/arrangement of the rooms. Basically, it's like the path of life. We start with birth (blue) and end with death (black). There are a number of postings on this site that could help you. There is also the Poe decoder site, which also has a lot of great info. Hope this helps.
