What is your favorite Leica souvenir?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

What is your favorite Leica souvenir or brochure which isn't camera equipment or a book about Leicas? Personally my favorite is a free white Leica hat I received at Tamarkin's a few weeks back. I use it a lot and enjoy wearing it.

My favorite brochure is the Leica M photography spread from 1995.

Leica souvenirs? Do repair receipts qualify? I've got a boatload.

Out of focus pictures of dishracks posted by individuals of questionable character.

Alfie:

I adore your Leica pictures posted on Leica Gallery. As soon as I master this computer stuff I'm going to make a mousepad from one of your photos, and I'm certain that it will be my favorite Leica souvenir.

Neptune Photo in Garden City, Long Island held a Leica day a couple of years ago, and the Leica Reps gave away Leica Micro- fiber cleaning cloths. I use it all the time. I keep it in my camera bag, rolled up in an empty oval APS film container. The oval shaped container keeps it from being mistaken for a roll of 35mm film. Best, Don

Kristian - the reason you're pix don't show up is that you're missing a step. When you have the picture open on Photonet - click on it and hold down, and then select "open this image" from the floating menu that appears. Then use the web address of THAT version to link to.

In other words you must link to the "open" version of the image, not to the Photonet gallery page itself.

As a backup check - the http web address you paste into your post/ response here must have "photo-display" somewhere in the middle - or else we'll just get the 'cracked picture' icon.

As to my favorite souvenir - I haven't taken it yet.

Mike Dixon:

At what speed what that photo taken? No, I mean how fast were you driving? (She is applying makeup/lipstick in the mirror behind the sun shade, isn't she?) Drive safely.

I am advised by an experienced resident authority that the fine cosmetic work that is depicted is attempted only when the car is still, such as at the stop light.

-- Mani Sitaraman (bindumani@pacific.net.sg), April 25, 2002.

Good point, Mani. Your better half is sharp.

But how do we know the pic was taken at a stop light? Mike could have just been parked somewhere, right?

Thats easy.

About 20 some years ago I was toying with the idea of getting a Leica R-4. The dealer gave me a Leitz brochure for the R4SP.

I was paging through it at home and came to the section detailing the accesories available for the R, in this case the motor drive.

Leitz demonstrated the drives capabilities with a series of shots taken of a young (but not that young), healthy (very healthy) girl cavorting in a fountain somewhere. Yes, she was soaked.

I never bought the R, but I still have the brochure. Its the only one I've ever kept.

Best,

Jerry

Don't worry, we were parked when the photo was taken. I'm not a drive-by shooter . . .

-- Mike Dixon (mike@mikedixonphotography.com), April 25, 2002.

Mike,

That was taken in your Ferarri, wasn't it?

-- Ralph Barker (rbarker@pacbell.net), April 26, 2002.

That one was in the Benz. The Ferrari was in the shop that day. Yeah, that's it, it was in the shop . . .

My fav souvenir is a handfull of glass lens rejects and a lapel pin given to me by the tour guid at the factory in Solms. It was a great experience and probably the firendliest people I met the whole time I was in Germany.
