It's called the EOS 66 (devil's EOS), EOS Rebel SXN and EOS 3000N depending on target market. The specs are listed in the Canon Camera museum:

The replacement for the Rebel 2000 is the Kiss IIIL, but it is only available in Japan so far. Maybe it will be called the Rebel 2002 in North America?

The specs & feature list make the 3000N the same as (or nearly the same as) a reissue of the EOS 500N (international) or Rebel G (North America).

The EOS 3000N isn't marketed in the USA, I don't think. Any place selling it in the US has imported it from an outside market. (eg: Canada, Europe, Asia) The 3000N is the bottom of the line Canon. The Rebel 2000 is a much better camera.

If you're in NYC I'd say go to B&H Photo Video. They and Adorama seem to be one of the few NYC camera shops around with a reputation for being something other than, well, nearly criminal.

You can't beat B&H, though shopping there takes some getting used to-- with the conveyer belt system, the conservative staff, the strange little candies at all the counters . . .
