Does Democracy and religion mix ? I say no, you have to give up one for another and I'm sure that would never happen.

Very interesting question Anthony. Could you expand on this a bit as to how the two are incompatible. And what is your definition of religion. Thanks Joan

Democracy is actually denotes the corruption of a Republic, in the same manner that the word tyranny describes the corruption of a monarchy. Keep calling your country a democracy and watch your freedoms vanish one by one. Such words describe forms of government which are supposed administer to the temporal needs of groups of people, but I don't see how they are adequate to describe something such the organizational structure of Catholicism; if anything, its a monarchy... but again, that application stretching the meaning of that word a bit.

Well, Joan, whenever I see Religion get involve with the "REPUBLIC" I see a society that the mean of laws to enforce there morals onto others, everytime this is done, it is a result of a violent act and yes, law is a violent act, I see example between religion who wants to control society and the ones that will except it for the way it is.

Tony, if there is no right and wrong, then government serves no purpose.

My george I think you got it, the only purpose the government should serve is to protect the nation from foreign invaders, but I would be happy to give you examples when polictical domain or morals rare it's evil head.

Tony,We here are not interested in hearing your thoughts on why you reject the US Constitution. Find a political forum if you want to post your meaningless political views.

Fine, fine, have it your way.

Of course they mix. In a Democracy, religion is free to operate ithout interference from the state. All religions are given freedom to practice.
