has any one ever made a connection between or compared poe and aleistar crowley? it seems as though poems such as annabel lee and clouds without water could connect. any thoughts?

There is both a direct connection and an indirect one. Crowley was certainly familiar with the work of Poe, and (I have no source for this other than a web-page, so treat with caution) appears to have adapted 'The Tell Tale Heart' for the stage. It can be read here.

Otherwise, since Crowley based his entire philosophy on the work of Nietzche and he, in turn, was a huge Poe fan there is another line of influence.
