Irvine to Everton!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

One shouldnt trust Teamtalk but anyway the claim that Irvine has accepted to become assistant manager at Everton. The big question is of course: Why didnt we ask him to become assistant manager? I cant see him leave for Everton if he got the same chance here. Also Moyes could stay as manager for several years in Everton so no chance of advancing that way. But we all know Bobby will step down in a couple of years.

According to Freddie Shep (down boy!) in this morning's Journal, YBR will live until he's 120 and has many years to come. Actually, I think Shep is wrong and YBR will live even longer, managing to eclipse wor own Jonno, who admitted earlier to being 149 (actually, I think he look s alot older than that - and Swift agrees).

So, it looks odds on that NUFC will follow the successful formula started by YBR's appointment and appoint another pensioner as there next manager. But just quite what Alan Shearer will do in the meantime remains unknown. Perhaps the fence will need another coat or two of creosote.

He needs to win something before he goes crazy with the fencing!

... what Alan Shearer will do in the meantime remains unknown ...

What do you mean Screach ? AS will play long enough to be that pensioner.

The official site has confirmed the departure of Irvine to Everton.

Don't know much about him but as he went from TSM 1st team coach to Acadamy director would that not be seen as a relegation. How much of an asset was he...Youth teams certainly seem to have been doing very well over the last few seasons.

Big Miss?? Could he have done a good job at 1st team level as Lord Bobby's assistant?

It will be interesting to see if any of our Academy "stars" follow him

The interview with him in Scene@stjames was very good. I loved his attitude to the kids, hard but fair. I loved his instruction that in the first few months of the season the goalie wasn't allowed to kick the ball out as the team had to all learn to play with their feet and be totally comfortable on the ball.

He will know who the better kids are and may well have an eye on a few of them.

IM LOST , i was under the impression he left to go to the FA, he even said so himself in the latst scene @. What the f*** is going on???

Kennyboy - He clearly just wanted out of SJP! Why, is anyone's guess!

He has done a good job, and will be missed. Incidentally, there was lots of communications a few months ago about interviews for his replacement. However, as usual it's all gone quiet - so presumably as we finally approach having a Youth Academy, we now don't have an Academy Director!
