Women photojournalists

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Ok folks I need a little help from someone in the DC area. Supposedly the Newseum in Alexandria has a exhibit of women Geographic photographers. Well when I pull up the museum's site on the web they say they are closed till 2006. Anybody know if this exhibit is indeed in the DC area? and if so where? Method to the maddness is--- take the wife, show her what they can do, get her reinterested in photography-- I get more toys. I hope:-)) You know what they say about the best laid plans!!

What if it ends up with _her_ getting the toys? I see the potential for a major backfire here...

I can't help you on Alexandria, but the exhibit is available in book form at Amazon.com:

Women Photographers at National Geographic

I was at this same exhibit in NYC a while back, where Jodi Cobb gave a talk. Very enlightening.

devious plan there, Andy.

Regardless, the Newseum (was was located in Rosslyn, Arlington, not Alexandria) is indeed closed. They are building a new home for it down on the Mall and it will open again in 2006.

Also, I haven't heard about the exhibition you refer to.

cheers,

Thank you for all the help I just spoke to the Museum and they don't have the exhibit anymore. As for the plan with the wife-what's another body, lenses we can share. I hope:-)) What's really scary though, she's got the better artistic eye and she's getting used to these spur of the moment jaunts. If she gets bit by Leicaitis like I did, we could have a very expensive mutual interest starting.
