How many goals did Al score when playing with Cort? He has scored three in two games with L3, and pretty many with Bellamy. But not much with Cort ey?

Likewise how many did Cort score with / without Shearer.

They are two good players in their own right, but as a pair they should never play together again.

I looked this up recently and if I remember rightly, Cort has scored two goals with Shearer and the rest without. Will just pop off and check it again - back in a mo.

Last season they played 5 games together (3 league 2 cup). Shearer scored 0 and Cort scored 2. Cort played 10 without Shearer and scored 5.

This season they have started 8 together (6 league 2 cup) Cort has scored 1 and Shearer 4.

So that makes a total of 13 starts together and 7 goals. Half a goal a game from your strikers isn't brilliant is it?

They've only ever both started 9 league games and 4 Cup games.

Half a pint of what ever Jacko's drinking - better still make it a double

Jacko, the secret is to get Office2000 which has the programme Front Page. If you copy a table into it then it has 3 tabs showing: your working, how it will look as a web page and your working as html code. Just copy and paste the code in here and Bob's a loveable auld gadgee guaranteed to feature in the Honours List.

I think that shows what we all have been seeing. Cort and Shearer are to alike and shouldnt play togheter. Al's perfect partner seems to be someone with pace like Bellers or L3. I hope Bobby will use Cort as a replacement for Shearer when he needs a rest, we will have to rotate our forwars a lot more next season if we get into the CL. If Cort isnt used for that we should sell him and get someone else.

Thx Jacko and Softie!

Sudden, it's interesting (nearly as interesting as Softies tables) but Shearer always said he prefered playing with a big 'un AKA Sutton/Ferdinand or 'other' at Blckbrn, indeed Ferguson but I for one hated it. However, maybe things have changed or maybe its just that two players pley well together and know each others game? I just reckon that Cort is lacking confidence - in the meantime, rotate, rotate, rotate!!

To be Beardsley about this, those 5 games in 2000-01 were all in August and September whilst Al was suffering with his knee problems and the others were when Cort was back after a 10 month layoff before he got matchfit. Saying that, I wouldn't see a return to hit-and-hope or crossing for headers from the byline for all the tea in China after what we've seen this season. I was delighted to watch Leverkeusen last night playing the way Troyes did (and we will) with no target man at all but 3 or 4 penetrative runners and no divisio of labour.
