There seems to be an imbalance developing in the team, for better or worse, but certainly a sea change from the Keegan days. Venison leaving perhaps started the trend, but Peacock, Batty, Beresford and now Barton leaving has exacerbated the impact. Quinn has never really cut the mustard and Shearer has pretty much lost it (even in his hay day he used to see red too often).
