Happy Birthday Galaxy!!!

(Best Eamonn Andrews voice on) - Roz Sears, Galaxy to arll who know and love you - you thaught you were coming to an ardinary Happy Burthday thread with your BBS chums, hah hah hah, you're a little shacked we can tell, but Galaxy - this is no ardinary Burthday thread, Yelli and Mr Galaxy have been keeping this quiet fer munths (no please don't kill them when you get home hah hah hah!) - because TONIGHT, Galaxy (pulls out a black and white book from behind back - THIS IS YOUR LIFE!. Gedd 'r a hankerchief somebaddy - hah hah hah!

Galaxy, you may have little idea how well your Toon life began. A Galaxyless world ended for the Toon on Apr 21, 1951 with a 0-2 defeat at SJP by ManUtd, but your arrival was followed just 4 days after your birth by :- (roll of drums) Newcastle 2 Blackpool 0 at Wembley with 100,000 in attendance. A certain Mr Milburn scored the first 2 goals of your Toon life. Glory hunting or what? This was the first game of your life!!

The arrival of the young Galaxy had clearly electrified the Toon and only 4 more days elapsed before on May 2, United won 1-0 at Wolves (G. Robledo) and then just 3 more days after that, Galaxy took her SJP bow with a 1-0 victory over Boro (Walker). History does not record whether the 11 day old Galaxy was one of the 35935 at that game although I suspect that Galaxy's mam prevented her from going. That was the end of the season and United finished - fourth - so there is a certain symmetry to the Galaxy/Toon relationship after the Blackburn result yesterday.

The following season continued Galaxy's unbeaten run and United opened their 51/52 account with a 6-0 annihilation of Stoke and that Milburn bloke got a hat-trick - the first Toon Hat trick of Galaxy's career. Next up was a 0-0 at Bolton before the unbeaten Galaxy run came to an end. ManUtd(booo!) won 2-1 at OT thus becoming the first defeat of your life as well as the last defeat pre your birth.

But Galaxy your first Christmas brought United a special gift. Your first game against The Mackems took place at Joker Park on that very day and Peace and Goodwill were spread throughout Tyneside (well Goodwill anyway) with a 4-1 thumping of our near neighbours(Foulkes, Milburn, G.Robledo 2). It is rumoured that Geordie Wise Men and Shepherds thronged about the Galaxy household that very night. The Mackems sent out emmissaries to slaughter the firstborn of Tyneside in an effort to rid themselves of Galaxy's powerful magic, and it was while Galaxy was in hiding from this the next day, (Boxing Day) that Sunderland scraped a 2-2 draw at SJP with that bloke Milburn scoring both (1 pen).

United finished 8th in your first full season pet and there were some choice results that year, Stoke 6-0 Spurs 7-2, Burnley 7-1 Charlton 6- 0 Huddersfield 6-2 and to close the season, just 2 days after Galaxy's wonderful first year, the lads celebrated her birthday with a 6-1 stuffing of Villa. The Villa result might have been better but the lads were saving themselves for the cup, a competition in which Galaxy was yet to taste defeat. United despatched Villa, Spurs, Swansea, Portsmouth and Blackburn that season, before bringing Galaxy her 2nd silverware in just 1 year and 9 days of life! May 3, Arsenal 1-0 with the brilliant G. Robledo doing the business.

Things have been just a little patchier since this extraordinary start, but it seems clear to me that Galaxy is one of the chosen ones. Happy birthday pet - many more of them!

How do you follow that?! All I can say is Happy Birthday Galaxy and hope to see you soon.

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

LOL, Steph, I know what ya mean. Seems the celebrations started last night! Happy Birthday, Galaxy!

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Thank you everyone for your good wishes, and special `thank you` to Jonno for that amazing posting! (:o)

Celebrations will be continuing this evening when Pete takes me out for dinner. Fingers crossed that he has picked my favorite restaurant. (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Kristian's Fish & Chip Shop, down on North Shields Fish Quay, perchance? I was there only yesterday and they happened to be cleaning the floor. I suspected something fishy might be going on?

BTW - Pete isn't a little short fat guy with a Scouse accent is he? If so, I can confirm he was checking out the plaice yesterday.

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

No Screacher, I don`t think it will be Kristian`s, but it might be a close second to it! (;o)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

You're right Mum, it is a close second - greasy Nick's Fish & Chips on the high street! Mmmmmmmmmmmm

I declined the invite..... (;o)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Yelli - is that Greasy Nick, or greasy fish 'n chips? Just curious leyk! ;o{)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Happy Birthday Galaxy. Obviously your birthday was an added incentive to the lads to guarantee that Champions League place last night.

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Yelli.....it better not be! (;o|

Clarky, in case Yelli can`t sneak another glance at the BBS while pretending to work, the answer to your question is....both!! Yuck...not nice! (:o{}

Do you know the first words I heard this morning were not `Happy Birthday darling`, or `Many Happy Returns sweetheart`, but `the old boiler`s sprung a leak can you come round quick and fix it`! I have to say that stopped me in my tracks a bit. Surely, unless incontinence is always accompanied by senile dementia, one would notice this sort of ..... ahem!......slipping of standards. Also, where was Pete getting the money to pay to put a contract out on me?! But it was okay....Pete was on the phone to the plumber, and the central heating boiler was leaking all over the bench! Phew!!! (;o)

Happy Birthday from Me, Mrs P and SOP!

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

It`s true....it really happened! (:o)

Also, and here`s a very odd admission, the only time I have ever lied about my age was a few years ago in California, and I actually pretended I was older than I was! I was fed up of all these beautiful women, who looked like they were in their thirties but were blethering on about their 55 yearold film director sons or whatever. They made me feel quite inadequate so I decided that I would tell them I was 68, and no-one batted an eyelid! (Come to think of it, there wasn`t much in the way of facial expression at all, never mind just eyelids!) Of course it all rather backfired because it left me wondering if the lack of reaction was because I looked 68, or because the women out there are so well preserved or routinely re-built that it didn`t come as a suprise to anyone.

Thankfully, as I heard on the radio this morning, it doesn`t matter anymore as women over the age of 50 are `invisible`! Which means I might just get in to the Southampton game after all!!! (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

68? Well, there;s a 69 year-ol man you've been stalking recently. Mind, not sure what his wife (or Pete) would say.

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Galaxy...it's not you, it's the rebuilt women. Have you heard the FDA has just approved the use of Botox to clear up wrinkles? Am I the only person who would rather have wrinkles, than have botulism injected into my skin every 6mos? yuck. Some of those women are scary, the way their faces never move!

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

You've got nothing to worry about at all Galaxy. To be still lapdancing at your age is a remarkable achievement.

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Happy Birthday to you, Galaxy

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

I'm too much of a gentleman to make the remotest references to a lady's age, Gal, but if there was something you felt had to be celebrated recently, I hope you enjoyed it. :-}E}

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Jonno.....have you been talking to Yelli lately? Don`t believe anything she tells you! (;o)

Pit Bill, the only thing really worth celebrating is our achievements this season.....birthdays are ten a penny! (:o)

Once again folks, thank you for your birthday greetings. (:o)

Just got back from a fabulous meal, slightly squiffy, pleasantly replete and all that.......my pillow is beckoning! (|o) zzzzzzzzz

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Mum, I've told you before - when you've been on the wine, go straight to bed - do not pass the computer and do not post on the BBS (;0)

And the aforementioned "lap-dancing" has not been discussed!!!

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2002

Halloo Petal! My lips are sealed (that`s cos I`m eating another piece of my birthday cake!) The meal was first class, box of birthday chocies from the manager, and I still managed to find a copy of the lates Relais & Chateau directory in my handbag when I got home! God, you just can`t take your Dad anywhere! Really funny thing to tell you, but I`m not commiting it to print.......Night night! (:o)
