Hopefully, this will take the edge off yesterday's picture.Such Thrashing About! It's rather fun to watch socialist/lefties throwing themselves about Europe at even the whiff of Right Wing Wacko Le Pen in their lives. Some even fell into the streets to protest - as though that ever accomplished anything. Warren Hoge in the NYTimes swings his keyboard around Europe for the hysterical reaction.
So There You Have It: The Washington Post says the chief of Palestinian security stepped out of the, by now, putrid bunker in Ramallah and blithely informed the press that it was "not my priority" to stop attacks on Israel. However, the NYTimes has a story saying that the "militant" group that was using female homicide bombers is going to cut back on attacks. Guess they need the girls to clean up.
Coming to Grim Grips With The Problem: Rod Dreher's excellent piece on the Catholic Church's gay problem was posted too late for mention yesterday morning but take the time to read it. Unless the good fathers gathered in Rome let in the sunshine the church, as we know it, is doomed.
All In The Family: The LATimes revisits the ongoing family feud between the Nixon "girls" using the interesting coinage of "disgraced" when referring to the late Richard Nixon. How soon will we see "impeached" attached to mention of Bill Clinton? Interesting piece, nonetheless . Insiders agree that it has been ginned up by Eddie Cox' meddling.
Striking A Blow For Freedom: We particularly liked this heartwarming story out of Louisville about a local comedian who woke telemarketers in their hotel rooms at a convention. There is some good advice on the thread as well as a few sales in the works for Radio Shack's zapping device.
Finally, Some Respect: With few people noticing, something has happened in the magazine world. The fusty-dusty yawn producing Atlantic Monthly has sprung to life and is the hot new must-read . For those who are fans of Mike Kelly's columns - he is the reason why. This piece in the Washington Post highlights his changes. Check it out online or at your newsstand.
